You can be critical of the US and its allies without pretending that Russia and China are the good guys. You can also recognise, correctly, that the US-Israel war on Iran is illegal and immoral (and stupid) and not pretend that the Islamic regime are saints. It's not that hard.

I can go on and on about this, but whats the point. P.s. the example in the quoted tweet has nothing to do with militarization.. having a highly militarized society has not helped us one bit in dealing with this situation (3/3)

Militarization is bad because it harms private business, we subsidie military businesses & drive out pvt business opertunities. It undermines civilian administration.. we've lived under militarization for so long we take it for granted as normal (2/3)

Militarization is bad not because the West says so. It's bad because it harms all parts of our civil society. Our police functioned as a para military for so long its ability to investigate crimes & police civil society is seriously gone (1/3)

What happened near Sri Lanka is a good lesson for all those idiots who keep trying to destroy our military. Now you understand what the "militarization is bad" narrative of the west has been for - to make us do stupid things and make us vulnerable. As Trump and his cronies said- if you can't defend what you have then its fair game to take it. We have to prepare for the modern (lawless) world: We have to defend our territory with force as that's all they get. Iran has shown the world that "superpower" is a myth. Smart can fight arrogance & corruption.

Under Standing Order 27(2), I questioned the Minister of Public Security on the 2014 killings of Gopi, Thevigan and Appan in Nedunkeni, Vavuniya. While we learn the Channel 4 documentary Dispatches is being examined, why are the other Channel 4 documentaries—Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields and No Fire Zone—not being investigated? I also sought updates on the status of investigations and alleged links between military intelligence and armed groups such as the Islamic Center and Tripoli Platoon.

Internal conflict isn't "true self vs. false self." It's "short-term desire vs. long-term desire". You're not one person being influenced. You're a coalition government having a crisis. Your awareness just creates space for negotiation.

@sanjiva @sanjiva Try living in N&E as an ordinary civilian before glorifying militarisation from your majority comfort zone. It’s easy to romanticise boots & barbed wire when they’re not outside your home, surveillance isn’t your daily reality, and your identity isn’t deemed a threat.

Twenty years ago we invaded Iraq. The war killed many innocent Iraqis and Americans. It destroyed the oldest Christian populations in the world. It cost over $1 trillion, and turned Iraq into a satellite of Iran. It was an unforced disaster, and I pray that we learn its lessons.
