If you have an engineer on your team with a red diploma who completes their favorite games on Steam to 100% achievements, then you can get a solid comparison with analogs. Thanks to @berman_ivan, who spent almost a month on purchases, unboxing with recording details, read all user agreements, tried all possible ways to access devices without cloud services, and integrated them into a local smart home.Ivan and I had a dozen conversations halfway through, and so far the personal feeling is that our first product for cyberpunks could turn out to be a good competitive item for the audience of Air Quality sensor users. Check out the table on the sensor map website and compare Altruist from the Robonomics team and other devices available for purchase today!

Altruist 2025 vs Others Air Sensor Comparison Table We got our hands on a bunch of air quality sensors - tested them indoors, outdoors, tried their apps, looked them up on public maps, and even attempted to integrate some into Home Assistant. A few surprises, a few frustrations - but in the end, we learned a lot. And honestly? We’re proud of how Altruist compares. Want the facts? Here’s a side-by-side comparison - straight to the point.

We're in the home stretch of finalizing Altruist beyond the dev kit stage. The full version of Altruist will soon include, in addition to the core measurement device, a bedside monitor with an e-ink display and additional sensors for indoor temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels. We're aiming to have the complete bundle ready by July 1st!

Hey-hey, humans! Today I've got something risky and altruistic for you.
Have you heard about Altruist, an open source air quality sensor from @RobonomicsHW? It's an absolutely cyberpunk station that not only lets you receive and locally store a bunch of environmental indicators, but also securely share this information in a decentralized sensor map.
In this thread, I want to show you its complete setup, all the way to integration with another Robonomics device — RISC-V Home Server🧵

We’ve been preparing thoroughly to submit our funding request to the Polkadot Treasury — #1523 Developing Polkadot Humanoid Robot SDK at Cyberpunk Lab!
polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/1523
Over the past three months, the Robonomics team has been showcasing our first steps from different angles and in various locations. In December, we participated in the Humanoid Summit (x.com/vitl2907/statu…) and released our first report on gaining access to the onboard computer of a Unitree humanoid robot (x.com/AIRA_Robonomic…). Then, during CES 2025 in Las Vegas, we demonstrated how a robot can be paid in cryptocurrency to execute commands (x.com/AIRA_Robonomic…).
More than 10 different teams from California have already visited our lab to try working with our first humanoid robot (x.com/AIRA_Robonomic…) — including the Snapchat VR team (x.com/vitl2907/statu…) and participants of a Stanford hackathon (x.com/vitl2907/statu…).
Later, after traveling through five states as passengers (x.com/r_turb0/status…), our team demonstrated a humanoid robot connected to Polkadot at Polkadot Mansion during EthDenver (x.com/Polkadot/statu…).
Meanwhile, we’ve been conducting research focused on the scientific foundation for complex robot applications — such as a home butler robot or even just a delivery robot. As a result, we’ll soon publish our first scientific paper of 2025 exploring goal-setting logic for humanoid robots (x.com/AIRA_Robonomic…).
These are our achievements just three months after starting work with our first lab-based humanoid robot. If our proposal is approved, the number and impact of our activities will grow significantly. Even with just the Robonomics team, we can build a strong foundation for the entire Polkadot community to begin creating real-world applications for humanoid robots — and, most importantly, we can openly explore and validate this emerging market from the ground up.
Such a deep and practical understanding of how Web3 can be applied to the robotics labor market is rare — and we’re ready to share it with the entire community. So please support us — and help accelerate the development of Polkadot!
🗳️ Voting is now live: polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/1523

Paper St Club - a new community-building program by Robonomics
We’re launching an educational initiative for thought leaders and active members of our community! This is the first program I’m personally excited to lead within Robonomics. The main idea is simple: we all lack knowledge to some extent, yet discussing projects and their progress remains central to the work of those involved in marketing, investment, and product development.
This spring, we’ll begin publishing a series of user-level educational materials — explaining how various sensors work, or how specific services built on Robonomics function in practice. Each module will include quizzes to help you test your understanding. What’s more, someone from our team will personally review your answers and help you fill in any knowledge gaps through direct conversation.
Our core goal is to bridge the information gap that’s accumulated over 10 years of experimentation. We want to show how a project that started on Ethereum in 2015 continued to evolve on Polkadot, why our tokenomics is structured the way it is, why we don’t chase partnerships for the sake of hype, and why we focus all our energy on the tech — while many others are mostly selling hot air. These are not easy questions, but the answers define what makes Robonomics truly special.
By summer, we hope to secure funding for hardware development. Those who complete the educational modules and pass the tests will be invited to work directly with hardware, join internal product calls, and help test and shape user experiences. You’ll receive prototype devices and get early access to our newest developments.
This is how we plan to address one of the biggest bottlenecks in building the Robonomics community in 2025 - the gap between big ideas and the understanding of actual state of the technology and its applicability. And when community leaders feel confident talking about Robonomics - whether it’s over coffee or a drink at the bar - when you’ve earned NFT achievements, created screencasts of controlling a robot across the globe at a closed event, and can point to the blockchain log of your actions - then you’ll not only be seen as a true expert, but you’ll also be equipped to build a business, a career, and earn respect from a wider audience.
Let’s give it a try! Here’s the first short test with 4 questions - I’ll send the answers and commentary over the weekend: form.typeform.com/to/zxiKcYhN

Developing Polkadot Humanoid Robot SDK at Cyberpunk Lab 🧵
Humanoid robots are ideal for showcasing Polkadot's technological capabilities. And quite possibly humanoid robots will be the largest blockspace consumers.
By combining the most advanced robots with the power of Polkadot Cloud, we are pioneering a framework that enables secure, autonomous, and trustless machine interactions. The lab will serve as a proving ground, where researchers, artists, and developers co-create, test, and validate real-world applications, setting the stage for the next wave of technological evolution. With the rapid development pace in humanoid robotics, we aim to define the place of Polkadot as a market leader in this space and bring a set of complementary benefits to the community.

@Mauric_ac @AIRA_Robonomics @r_turb0 @UnitreeRobotics I am focused on robots for the home, in everyday tasks. This case has only now become feasible for humanoid robots, now almost every company shows demos where the robot does something in the living room or kitchen.
English

@berman_ivan @AIRA_Robonomics @r_turb0 @UnitreeRobotics That sounds fascinating! Robonomics is such an exciting tool. I'm interested in how can be related to modern control and decision-making for humanoid robots. Are you focusing on any specific use cases or industries? I'm exploring robonomics so I'm quite new to this.
English

For three months now, since @AIRA_Robonomics acquired the humanoid robot @r_turb0 (G1-EDU from @UnitreeRobotics), my colleagues and I have been diving deeper into humanoid robotics with great interest. Specifically, I'm researching modern control and decision-making methods that are already being used on these robots, trying to understand if they're ready to burst into our living rooms for everyday home assistance.
There's so much material that I've decided to turn it into a research paper (working title — Towards Cognitive Autonomy for General-Purpose Humanoid Robots) and publish it on arXiv.
While it's still being written, I want to share some insights in this thread 🧵

English

@immanuelg @AIRA_Robonomics @r_turb0 @UnitreeRobotics Thanks! Also check out the sources I left in the last tweet, they might come in handy.
English

@berman_ivan @AIRA_Robonomics @r_turb0 @UnitreeRobotics This is really cool!
I'm writing my Master's thesis about humanoid robots and manufacturing.
I'll add your paper into my theoretical framework. Can't wait!!!

Finally, there is still an issue with current SDKs for humanoid robots. From what I've come across, they look more like the SDKs of academic robots from the last decade, and cover the most basic (and honestly not very interesting) robot functions, like "how to move joint #5". To try all the “magic” that I described above, you need to understand all the methods from scratch.
While this is undoubtedly useful for learning, it's bad for moving on higher-level development. It's hard to imagine that a developer will find a solution to the task "clean up the kitchen" if they have to spend a long time struggling with basic skills of object grasping, door opening, and navigation. I hope we'll see improvements here in the near future.
That's all, folks! Stay tuned for updates on the paper!
