Really enjoying using the Merlin app. A couple of surprises that it’s picked up locally are the Black Redstart and Goldcrest. So much going on in nature that we don’t realise.. 🐥

The shade temperature in the @AboutEG garden is currently 28.7°C. So I'm in a shady spot down by the fishpond. There's a big old carp lurking in the pond among the goldfish. He's been there for years, but rarely puts in an appearance.

This male great spotted woodpecker allowed me to take a few snaps and a brief video through the window this morning..🐥

Busy birds 🐦 in the garden this May. A pair of robins have built a nest under the little waterfall in my pond😍, blue tits have moved into both bird boxes and goldfinches, greenfinches & chaffinches are eating me out of house and home.😆🐣💜

We could learn a lot from squirrels. However hard the problem, they never give up. If it doesn't work the first time, they try something different. They aren't team players at all, but they watch each other and adopt the best ideas. They should be in politics. #votesforsquirrels

Goldfinches are very photogenic.. If only they’d keep still for a few seconds.😆This one briefly allowed me take some photos this morning..
