#birds I'm now in Peru. Here, at the Yawar Fiesta, a wild condor is trapped, fed alcohol, then its legs are sewn into a bull's skin for a fight to begin. Trying desperately to escape, the condor pecks in fear at the terrified bull's neck & eyes as the crowd jeers in jubilation.

You’ll usually find nesting birds during the main nesting and breeding season from 1 MARCH TO 31 AUGUST.” Taken from gov.uk website. So, why is this poor man subjected to unwanted criminal activity from a local farmer year after year?! The hedge in question is Wych Elm - home to a colony of White-letter Hairstreak #butterflies. A butterfly that is only just expanding into Scotland in recent years. Not only that, there is now an exposed nest of birds, likely to be predated. They’re just lucky they weren’t themselves flailed in the process… When will the policing of how our hedgerows are managed & the enforcement of the above mentioned recommendations FROM THE GOVERNMENT become a reality?! 😡

Come on @broxtowebc, surely there’s ABSOLUTELY NO REASON that you can logically give for the mulching of valuable #wildflowers in one of your green spaces?? Can you honestly say this looks better than it did when it was full of colour and life? Please can we assess your maintenance schedule? Why can’t you adopt a #NoMowSummer and cut once in September/October?
