@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett and just to explain why europe could transition into capitalism despite constant wars in the late-renaissance-early-modern period, the balance of great powers in europe was so carefully maintained that it prevented these upheavals, mostly to keep colonial projects going

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett in conclusion communism is a cope for nations that never stood a chance at reforming into capitalism, but it's not their fault at all. if anything it's our fault. check out the platt amendment and the US occupation of cuba if you want an example relevant to this discussion

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett alternatively, the western world was indisputably unipolar while both the major communist powers USSR and China were horribly devastated by WW2 by the nazis and japanese respectively. industrialised early capitalist europe was hardly a peaceful place

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett communism does not have a good track record but i can point out in a bunch of different ways how the transitional, under-developed and unstable state of russia at the time as a country was more to blame

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett there are more important factors like stalin being a shit commander in chief, them coming out of a revolution only 20 years earlier and ofc deciding to buddy up with the nazis and trusting the guys who won't stop saying 'kill all slavs' leading to barbarossa

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett russia definitely got the worst of it but the prime factor in their later economic outcomes was definitely having a benefactor in the USA. china was the closest thing the soviets had and in 1969 things got so bad they asked the white house if they could nuke them😐

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett Literally all of Europe had the same problem. The onky reason Russia had it worse is because their shitty Communist econony couldn't build good weapons and forced them to use meat wall tactics to beat Germany. Lend/lease from America was the only reason they survived at all.

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett The reason all the men died is because the Communists made shitty weapons and got their asses handed to them by the Germans. The only reason the Soviets "won" the war was because of meat wall tactics and the equipment they borrowed from America under Lend/Lease.

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett for perspective let's take the population pyramid and turn it back 60 years to 1960. that means the 70-80 year olds are the working population and uh oh UH OH

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett But Co.munism is the far better economic system that creates more wealth for less work! Communist theory proves this over and over again! How could people possibly be overworked in a Communist utopia?!

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett But East Germany was under the far superior Communist economic model. Why didn't they come out ahead?!
