@bryanl @davidfowl Two things are true: There are cases where I love a good debugger. There are other cases where I use print() to solve my problems.

@davidfowl Yup. It’s all about effort vs reward. If you are super low in the stack a debugger might be best, but I’m not down there a lot.

@Lost_Signal @EIAgov So coal/gas need to become expensive with CO2 pricing, but ramp up of solar/wind need to make coal/gas unnecessary, all while consumption goes up significantly due to mass-adoption of EVs and Heat Pumps.

@Lost_Signal @EIAgov In the German/European market, the price is set by the most expensive source we still have to buy to satisfy demand. Today, that often involves coal or gas. Solar and wind are very cheap indeed, but usually not able to meet demand fully.

I am at 40c (EUR) right now, but yes, prices have to go up (CO2 pricing) unless we finally invest enough in renewables. We have to internalize these external effects and have people pay the “true price”.

You can enter your answer in writing, or via Speech-to-Text. I also use a real language coach, and this is a fantastic addition. Less than $0.5/h means I am only limited by my willingness to spend time. Oh, and ChatGPT helped me write all this code in very little time.

How the app works: You enter a person/topic (free text or dropdown) you want to have a conversation with/about. The tool picks a voice at random. It asks ChatGPT to do a role play. You can repeatedly listen to the audio, reveal the written text if needed. Infinite variation.

I made a language learning role play app for myself. I took ChatGPT API, AWS/Azure/GCP Text-to-Speech APIs (to have more voices), and Whisper API, with a hacked up python backend and a Clarity/Angular frontend. It’s absolutely awesome and very cheap. API cost is few cent/h.
