@bryanl Simple fix? It requires a constitutional amendment that 2/3 of states have to ratify.

The only reason we are in the current predicament is because a certain population want to preserve a rule that allowed them to have power, while in the minority, during slavery. There is a simple fix for all of this, if our legislature wanted to take action.

@bryanl @HenriHelvetica Agreed 100% that’s the ideal way to do it. I just don’t generally push that too hard to new folks because every job I’ve gotten in 17 years except my current one came from cold applying. I feel like until you’ve built up a big enough network/reputation you need both.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but this applies to everything, everywhere, and ESPECIALLY these big tech companies y’all will sell your souls to try and get into. Shoot your shot. Submit that application. Send that DM. Don’t run away from the opportunity.

@HenriHelvetica @antculver Real talk. Your goal is to figure out how to not submit an application. That’s the separator. Make them come to you. Give them a reason to come to you. There are way too many ways to get your name out there.

@antculver Skip the application. Just get to the table by any means necessary. That might also mean volunteering. That’s the limiting reagent.

@GergelyOrosz Databases never get boring. Managing/querying/transforming data from multiple sources that is larger than what a single server can manage is still a fun problem.

What are software technologies you find interesting / promising these days - outside anything GenAI? (I feel LLMs have kind of sucked the air out of the room for many other tech developments)
