I think about this also as why men covertly post their appendages while exhibiting random things like books or drinks. An outward conquering. instead of saying "this is me" it's like saying "all of this is mine"

Mostly when women post selfies it’s a “look, share my life with me!” way but men, who are unsocialized barbarians, see any demonstration of selfhood as exposing yourself as prey

Something they don’t tell you about becoming a good writer is that you will have to do a lot of work that will ultimately feel wasted (and maybe even BE wasted, depending on how you look at it). So you better be in it for the love of the game

what if I don’t find “the faithful” or “straight white men” to be noble savages, but I still think a certain form of generosity is necessary for safety? Leibniz said be meek only in avoiding injustice… and how easy it is to recommend timidity for the just portion’s safety!
