I make videos, play games and complain about capitalism too much.

@SandyofCthulhu A lot of people get pressed about this because most superheroes are New Deal Democrat types, and a lot of people (Americans especially) think of that as a left wing ideology rather than a moderate right wing ideology. Superheroes are, by their nature, very individualistic

All superheroes are right-wing coded, because they are all vigilantes trying to protect their community. Supervillains, even the neo-nazis, are either lumpenproletarist if they are just out for themselves, or they are left-wing coded, because they have a master plan they want to force everyone to be under.

Spider-Man is an inherently Christian and right-wing concept. Modern Hollywood doesn't get it.

VFX artist Brian Runnels on Zack Snyder’s Cut / Justice League “I worked on the movie while he was Directing and his "version" was not what he had in the cut. It was boring, lacked humor, his cut was not good: They gave him an out and he took it. Whedons cut was better, Zack's re-cut version was a third version that would've not been what people come to know as the Snyder cut. Hes revising history.”

@Demonic_Simian @VashKohime They sort of backhandedly insist that he doesn't understand/agree with the themes, and just likes it for aesthetic reasons. They see him as a well-meaning idiot

@VashKohime He wanted to adapt The Fountainhead. You’d think that would tell people what kind of guy he is.

@swordnwhorecery @TripleAAAkers7 Had the same realization rereading it recently. A lot of it is about the place horror comics had in the industry and how the CCA completely neutered the medium. Crazy how little of this stuff is in the adaptions.

@daProSlacker @TripleAAAkers7 I re-read it recently and honestly Moore’s critique of comic books is such a prominent through line it’s not only hard to ignore, but is probably the main motivation he had behind writing it given the shifts in the industry

@ANNVYSHINSKY 99% of the time people just use it to mean someone they can have a conversation with, instead of actually being sexually stimulated by intellectual displays.

@girldrawsghosts Wholeheartedly agree. A big part of Watchmen as a comic is how it explores the history and cultural impact of the medium, feel like a movie adaption (if it NEEDS to be made) should have had that same energy for the film industry

Hot take but a Watchmen film adaption should shift the deconstructive focus from comic books to comic book 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘴. There are nods to that idea (Ozymandias’ Schumacher-style bat nipples/Nite Owl’s suit evoking Batman Begins’ aesthetic and palette), but it doesn’t commit

@TripleAAAkers7 I remember liking the movie as a teenager, it made me want to read the comics, and when I did I just couldn't stand the movie anymore. There's so many things the comics are communicating that the film doesn't even attempt to grapple with

@TripleAAAkers7 The ending being changed completely ruins the narrative and conspiracy that drives the point of the in-universe narrative, and along with the critiques/allegories for the comic book industry being dropped, the movie is little more than a compilation of your favorite panels

@AxelTalksFilm I've still not heard a convincing explanation for what is actually being misunderstood with BvS. Just vague "you don't get it" whenever you criticize the movie.

@daProSlacker @elisnyan Keep in mind that a lot of countries don't have legal precedent to the same extent the US has it. So that might be one of the reasons why that's the case.

Lol stop acting like “slippery slope” is a Twitter thing. it’s about precedent. Once the state claims authority to ban fiction based on disgust/perceived glorification, the criteria can expand. This is true historically, obscenity laws have been used against queer content before.
lad (but epic) @Ladisepic

Yall r so fucking spineless "OMG but but if you ban rape and incest games it will be a slippery slope to banning gay people" have you considered even in that scenario banning games glorifying rape isnt the problem itself or do you just want an excuse to have it stay up

@DreamLeaf5 For them trafficking is not a real thing, it's just a spicy label you attach to any kind of sex work for moral grandstanding purposes.

@DreamLeaf5 For some people, being aware that trafficking occurs necessarily means that ALL sex workers are victims of trafficking because they have porridge where their brains should be.

@elisnyan If something is banned purely on the justification that enough people find it disgusting, then it can and will be applied to anything that a sizable chunk of the population finds disgusting

@bigmonkeong It's also just kind of redundant and lazy imo. It'd be more interesting to adapt games that aren't cinematic, and use tools unique to a different medium to explore the same themes, the desire to essentially do a shot-for-shot remake of cinematic games feels so uncreative

Can't get over how cynical the decision making for the GoW show is regarding the setting. The only reason to jump straight to the Norse games instead of the Greek games is because they can be lazier with the adaption since the Norse games are more cinematic
