@FinancialPhys Nah. I worked part-time as a teen in 1975 for $2.10/hour. No way I had the spending power of someone making $442k/year today.

Twice as many young women than young men want to leave the US This is interesting, because more young women than young men: 1. Have college degrees 2. Own homes

NEWS: Massive budget cuts for US science proposed again by Trump administration "It's an extinction-level event for science". The US government is proposing massive cuts to almost every branch of science, from NASA to the National Institutes of Health. NSF would completely eliminate the social, economic and behavioral sciences directorate. This would decimate the world's leading scientific system. nature.com/articles/d4158…

When I married in 1981 we both worked & most of our salary went on paying the mortgage as the interest rate was 15% at the time. Everything we owned was 2nd hand & we never went out for meals as we couldn’t afford to. We rented our TV Went to the launderette every weekend as had no washing machine. Only had new clothes at Xmas & birthdays as presents. We went without until we could save enough to pay for something. It’s always been hard whether you are young or old. So those out there that think we had it easy we didn’t. Our governments are to blame, not the old.

Illinois Policy

It is both bizarre and outrageously dishonest for a mayor to publicly plead for people to be given second chances while leading a city where residents are routinely victimized by people who have very literally been given dozens of chances. The man who set a woman on fire at the busiest train stop in the Loop last fall had previously been given exactly 72 chances. It is unreasonable to give anyone who shoulders Chicago's exorbitantly high tax burden anything less than an ironclad commitment to public safety, which requires realistic sentencing.

People deserve a second chance. Our city is stronger when we make those second chances a reality.

Employment among foreign-born workers is at or near its pre-pandemic trend while employment among native-born Americans last month was below both Mar '25 and Mar '23 levels, and up just 1.7% in the 7 yrs since Mar '19:

A French general just looked at Trump’s plan to build a runway inside Iran to fly out uranium under active bombing. His response: “American officials should stop snorting cocaine between meetings.” This is the same man who called joining Trump’s war “buying cheap tickets for the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.” The French are not holding back. The problem with this is that we already had a guy doing this. He was cancelling tens of billions of dollars in student loans every month, he implemented the SAVE plan. Yall fumbled him SO hard over complete nonsense. You brainwashed yourselves into thinking we were in a recession when in reality, our economy was recovering from the pandemic faster than any other country on the planet. If a democrat wins in ‘28 they won’t take office until 2029. We still have THREE MORE YEARS of this. Such a painful and UNNECESSARY lesson we all have to suffer through.
