My view on this year’s MVP race has been that SGA’s superior defense, efficiency and ability to limit turnovers edges out Luka’s slight volume edge and big playmaking and rebounding edges. I don’t care much about team record but SGA has that as well, with plenty of OKC injuries.

Like I think if 2026 Luka faced the MVP competition 2007 Dirk did, he wins. His resume is better than the 2007 field’s. But he’s not competing against the field I 2007, he’s competing in 2026. Sometimes there are multiple guys with MVP-caliber resumes and it gets hard.

Luka really is a tank. The way he got fouled by Sengun there and just brushed it off... when people talk about his athleticism they underrate how strong he is and that nobody can really move him. Even bigs.

The voters change their prerequisites every couple seasons, and it’s currently best player on best team. It’s kind of ridiculous that players legacies are in the hands of beat writers

Better efficiency. Half the turnovers. Better defense despite that tiny sample isolation stat that's been making the rounds.
This is what I hate about the MVP race. By all means, support your guy, but it always devolves into "you're an idiot for picking anyone else."

@LakersFaithful_ @SamQuinnCBS This take is insane. Put Luka on OKC and they’re at best the same offensively and 100% worse defensively; put SGA on LA and they’re the number one seed in the West. SGA is a walking 50+ wins at this point.
