Well said @Farzad_MD - much (although not all) of the EHR functionality simply replaces paper charts in a 1:1 fashion - patient registries, however, enable targeted proactive outreach are net new and one of our most powerful tools!

You can serve an individual quite well [with paper records]; you can deliver excellent customer service if you wait for someone to walk through the door and then you go and pull their chart. What you can't do with paper charts is ask the question, 'Who didn't walk in the door?'
