@jeff_gluck @NASCARInsights From Sept. 6, 1971, to Oct. 8, 1972, Bobby Allison led at least one lap in 39 consecutive NASCAR Cup races. In the 1972 season, Bobby led every Cup race except the final race of the season at Texas World Speedway.

Per @NASCARInsights, Heim is the first driver to lead every race in a season for any series in a NASCAR national series.

Get this: Corey Heim has now completed an incredible feat and led at least one lap in every race. He also just broke Mike Skinner's single-season laps led record (set in 1996).

@racermacRTP1 @ckyriazis2006 @ChasKrall ABC was in Atlanta for the cup race, but there was no Saturday coverage planned. A few cameras covered the Busch race for highlights for use on ESPN SpeedWeek. There was an interview shot with Jeff that was also used on SpeedWeek.

Maybe somewhere there is a tape floating around with the 1999 race at Nashville Fairgrounds...
(Would be a miracle...the TV crew departed after a long rain delay but a guy can hope!)

early history. I interviewed Frank Mundy in 1997 and he told me the story about the rental car. He was another great character.

Among the drivers was Frank Mundy, who rented a car from a local car rental firm, finished 11th, and returned the car at night so no one would notice the worn tires
It cost $21 to rent, and he won $25, a $4 profit

The first win for "Bettenhausen Motorsports" came at Surfers Paradise 2002. This was no ordinary race. What started in a complete disaster ended with a red flag due to rain and Mario Dominguez in victory lane.
