But it is. Haha this isn’t that hard to understand. The advertisers got what they paid for not a theoretic audience.
Aidan@scuderiaidan

@champwebdotnet There’s nuance though. The numbers would likely not be so close if this NASCAR race was on FOX

@champwebdotnet A lot of this comes down to Nascar being on FS1 more often

.@FS1 got a 1.44 rating and 2.771 million viewers for Sunday's NASCAR Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas, down 3% and 8% respectively from a 1.48 rating and 3.011 million last year. ➡️ Still, the figure is up from last year's Cup average on FS1 (2.534 million).

Today we have heavy hearts and overwhelming sadness, because we have lost a friend. Greg Donnelly passed away unexpectedly yesterday morning. Greg was part of the Stepp’s Race Recovery Team. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, and his Stepp's family.

With the provisioning of an engine lease, the series would have its field of 33, and if PREMA can participate, IndyCar and FOX would have the aforementioned 34th car and high stakes for fans to follow during qualifying. Entry list close to 33 for this year's Indy 500 racer.com/2026/03/18/ent… via @racerhq

@champwebdotnet Indy is doing great but not really. NASCAR still wins the share of households by a mile. Fs1 is in tens of millions less homes and they’re still 1-1.5 million over the FOX Indy races. This is probably a 3.5mil draw on the main network.

@champwebdotnet Is that what they are telling you? Come to Miami and you will see 18-24 year olds running tech & finance startups and driving Lambos. There is a reason why Bush Light sponsors NASCAR and Rolex sponsors IMSA

Here’s some quick math on the Indycar commercial deal: It’s clear they have sold in 30 minutes of commercial time as part of the 2 hour broadcast window. Ads are probably around a $60 CPM (cost per thousand impressions). Could be lower could be higher. Indycar generates, outside of Indy, 1M viewers. This comes to $2-3M in revenue per race or around $60M in revenue outside of Indy. Indy alone however probably garners a premium $120 CPM and has 6-7M viewers. FOX probably nets $60M on the Indy500 alone. So they are coming in at around $120M a year. They have probably said to the strategy is to match the revenue generated from Indy with the remaining package of races and it’s a pretty attractive asset for FOX stakeholders and advertisers alike. So in order to go “ad free” FOX would likely need a single advertiser to come in and pay $150M in a multi year deal to go commercial free.
