The issue isn’t about rules don’t matter. The issue is proportionality. A system that tolerates delays everywhere in governance but becomes extremely rigid only when it comes to students’ futures will naturally raise questions.

How do teachers / educators manage to achieve such heartlessness? All they need to do is permit & the student will get s little less time to write the exam. Sad.

my sympathies for the few students who came late for the neet. but not being let in is the right decision, however harsh it may sound (i know this seems to echo the views of a sanghi toolkit cartel but even broken clocks tell the time right twice a day). i have been an observer for a large exam and the logistics get completely upended if students come late. also there are always 3-4 latecomers in every exam. the same people checking documents and frisking students before the exam are then sent to distribute papers and check seating and ensure order in the halls. do you want them to go back to the gate and check documents? what happens to the exam hall then? also remember this is a re-exam and they are under special pressure for no fault of theirs, and there is scrutiny from millions of people waiting to pounce on a single procedural lapse. disturbs students sitting in the neighborhood too. as an analogy, think of plays and concerts that dont allow latecomers to enter, because audience and performers will be disturbed. allowing a latecomer is a penalty on the people who made the effort to come on time. also remember if 4 students came late how did N-4 students manage to come on time? did traffic magically ease for them?

Invigilators (mostly teachers) not allowing NEET students who were few minutes late is sheer power corrupting their mind. Such punctuality is acceptable in a perfect society where things run & run on time. I wish they were so strict in questioning minister over student suicides.

Is there any good reason why students are not allowed to enter exam halls beyond said time? How does it matter if students come 30 minutes late or 1 hour late or 2 hours late to the exam? It is their exam paper, their wish right? What they do with that allotted exam time is their headache As long people can check students properly in terms of cheating slips and do phone jammings well, late examination attendance shouldn't be an issue

NEET exam was at 2:00 PM today… PM landed at Delhi at 1:15 PM but waited till after 2:00 PM so the NEET students don’t get delayed due to traffic restrictions due to his travel… Meanwhile in Bangalore Congress organises a protest in the city leading to several NEET aspirants reaching their venue late! Let people decide now as to who really cares for students?

This mentality is exactly why rules get bent all the time in this country... Calling the system 'sadistic' coz it enforced a clearly stated deadline? And then blaming the same system for your failure to follow the rules? People with this mindset would call system 'sadistic' for imposing a fine on littering and say, 'What's the big deal? I only threw one bottle on the road.'"

@_jiddu Even if student is 10 seconds late he shoudnt be allowed. Because when they become a doctor and they are late somebody’s life will be at stake i gave neet i forgot my id i went home came back and still reached on time heck i reached 45 mins before ie 12:45 pm

@ChekrishnaCk It shouldnt end they wont learn about accountability what if they manage to complete the exam in remaining time you get at least 2 hour window to reach the centre than if you still cannot reach its your fault

This late entry rule should end. Allow them for remaining time. If someone arrives late, they will just get less time. But this way of not allowing them would lead to severe psychological stress. #NEET

@FabulasGuy The admit card clearly states to reach by 11 am and the gate closes at 1:30 you have a 2 and a half hour time window if you still cannot make it to the centre than the problem lies in you

Students being denied entry for arriving a few minutes late is not a new issue. Every year, videos of students crying outside exam centers go viral, and it’s not limited to NEET. I’ve said this before too: no student deliberately wants to be late for such an important exam. There should be at least a 30-minute grace period. Ntional-level SOP should be created and followed by all states to ensure deserving students don’t lose an entire year because of minor delays.

Students who arrived just 2–3 minutes late were not allowed inside NEET exam centers. This system is truly unfair man. Government itself causes delays in so many things. Police always arrive late. Court hearings get delayed too. No one says anything to them, but if a student arrives just 2–3 minutes late, their entire career gets ruined.
