@wyahk Have you ever considered other people might not shit themselves daily? Of course it's beneficial for you if you're a degenerate.

@bizlet7 Right, the Germanic lands of antiquity neatly line up with the 20th century German-Austrian border. Naturally.

If you’re moving to Germany, here’s what nobody tells you: At work, Germans won’t call you by your first name until they explicitly invite you to. People you’ve worked with for years can still be Herr Schmidt and Frau Müller. The first time someone used my first name at work, I knew something had shifted. 🇩🇪

His name was Philip Chanis, a 20-year-old German guy. After attending his sister’s graduation ceremony, he went to a park with his girlfriend. Their path crossed with 10 foreigners. He was wearing a cross around his neck. That was enough. All ten of them savagely beat him with kicks and punches. They attacked his girlfriend too, then stabbed him over and over without mercy. Philip fought for three agonizing days in the hospital, but the injuries were too severe. He died. The main killer, a Syrian migrant, was sentenced to just 9 years in prison.

@TheRocinante1 @western_civ @SaP011 Ah, so that's why the US, a state that murders its citizens is so much safer than Norway, a state that gets mass murderers a playstation.

@flagada713 @western_civ @SaP011 I'd never murder anybody, but I would defend my home against violent intruders. Scaring others into never trying it again seems reasonable and logical.

@flagada713 @western_civ @SaP011 Western civilization did world wars. When the time for savagery arrives, nobody does it better. It's very needed now, we should be executing 10 migrants for every one that murders.

@RogerAlsing Yes, when you put it that way it does sound like a very silly question doesn't it? I know how a calculator does math and I know how I do math and the difference seems obvious to me. Maybe it's different for you?

"It’s entirely possible that Claude is, in fact, having conscious experiences of some sort." No it isn't. It's not complicated. The "hard" problems of philosophy simply don't apply. We know how Claude generates its output. It's entirely impossible that consciousness is involved.
Dr. Émile P. Torres (they/them)@xriskology

Is Richard Dawkins' recent article about AI consciousness silly? Yes. He seems to fall victim to the very cognitive tendency he claims gave rise to religion: a hyperactive agency detection device. BUT, the question of AI consciousness is complicated. I explain why here:
