Walking past sales persons truck who was talking to my cousin. Hear an air leak on one of his tires. That was one of fastest way to get a sales guy too leave. Gives me an idea. 🤔

@dairydoc_church I assume, this was this done on the 1st bite of the ration? Imagine how far off the last bite is!! Also happens to be the highest producers that eat the last bite! #marginalmilk

How close is the ration you give to cows compared to the paper ration (low CV=better). Devries found big variation

@agarcv Agree, learned many of those same skills through @4HCanada ! But not once on the back of a paid staffer. The volunteer leaders are 4H! The dollars from registration that make it back to grassroots programs is pathetic. Lots of bureaucracy though

There is no such thing as compensatory gain! Sure, the average may come up slightly but only at the expense of the top end! Try eliminating the bottom end and see what happens to the average.

When it finds the initial heat, it could wait 5-7 days to test again, then maybe every 3-4 days, when it gets to 17 days it'll test daily to find the heat. If it assumes cow is preg after 25 days it'll go to testing every few days again

After 30 days. Still don’t follow the math to 66. All cows would be 40tests in before VWP. So at a minimum another 21 tests after that plus, 25% recycle for at least another 21 days assuming 100% success and compliance to VWP.

But for the consumables cost the 66 strips is only for pregnant cows, not the ones used on cows that ended up DNB. As soon as cows end up on DNB list it doesn't test them anyone

Most programs only use active cows in the pregnancy calculations not archived or sold cows. So things like, days open or services per conception are presented lower than actual as sold cows leave the herd.
