@parviewfarms @UofNH I’ve noticed that cows that have bulls seem to have a lower Cal numbers on day 3-4 then cows that have heifers … not sure if it’s a thing, just something that I’ve noticed.

@parviewfarms @UofNH My take away was don’t give bottles of calcium unless they need it, and delay second boluses until day 3 ish especially in 3rd and + lac cows rather than giving them everything at calving

Folks are still at, wide range in maturity this year. Weighted a plot this morning, and did another one last week … 22mt AF avg … might post the results if anyone is interested

Silage is just getting started, tonnage and moisture are a bit surprising. Corn in a lot of places looks really green, moisture is in the low to mid 60’s. Milk line 2/3-3/4. Yield is as good or a bit better than expected. Safe harvest everyone!

@theoandtheb It doesn’t cost $75/day to feed an animal….It’s also not drought entirely. We are in supply/demand market. Demand is high and the supply of youngstock in beef is dwindling pushing replacements animals higher. Feed price is actually quite low to moderate currently

Members of the Canadian ag community, please help the rest of us understand how it costs $75/day to feed a single cow? I’m open to believing this claim, I just have no reason whatsoever to believe either of these two.
