The pretext is/was that a non-Muslim husband could prevent his Muslim wife from performing her prayers meanwhile Muslim husbands shouldn’t do the same to their non-Muslim wives and it was thought that a wife won’t be able to force-forbid her husband from his prayers. ANYWAYS, Catholics marrying to non-Christians was also forbidden regardless of their gender and in rare cases it required dispensation.

In Islam, a Muslim woman is not allowed to marry a non-Muslim man, while a Muslim man is allowed to marry a non-Muslim woman.
Why is this?

📌 Uzun zamandır 90'lı yıllara ait reklamları izliyorum. Eskiden reklamlarda müşteri de yer alır ve onların düşünceleri de yansıtılırdı. Özellikle deterjan reklamlarında ve bilhassa kadınlara yönelik ürün reklamlarında bu yol tercih edilirdi.
📍 İlginçtir, reklamlarda kişinin gerçek adı soyadı ve yaşadığı yer yazıyordu. Örneğin: Binnaz Çam - Madagaskar veya Saadet Kolpa - Nikaragua gibi...
📍 Ben bu isimlerin gerçekten halktan birileri olup olmadığına, yapım ekibinden ya da cast ajanslarından olup olmadığına bakayım dedim. Belki de güncel hallerini, şu an ne yapıyorlar, kazandıkları ödüller ya da aldıkları deterjanlar hayat kalitelerini yükseltmiş mi diye araştırmak istedim.
Kesinlikle bu kişiler tesadüf değil.
👉 Mesela biri Aymar'dan çeyiz seti kazanmış. Kocaeli'de yaşayan bir adam. O dönem kel, saçları dökük. Hediye kazandıktan sonra saç ektirmiş belli ki. Hala Kocaeli'de yaşamaya devam ediyor, kendisi mimar ve bir siyasi partinin yerelde "önemli" ismi.
👉 Bir diğeri, hijyenik ped reklamında oynamış üniversite öğrencisi. Sonra bir baktım kendisinin zaten reklam ajansı varmış. Şimdilerde ABD'de iş yapıyor. Belki de o reklamı yapan ajans kendisine ait.
👉 Benzer dönemde Show TV'de Hakan Yılmaz'ın sunduğu "Büyük Küçük Demeden" adında bir yarışma var. Çocuklar anne veya babalarıyla katılıyor yarışmaya. Bir kayıt dikkatimi çekti. İzlerken çocuğun şu an neler yaptığına bakayım dedim. Çocuk sosyal medya hesabında her şeyi paylaşmış maşallah. Ama eksik olan ya da yanlış olan bir şey var. Annesi. 😊
Yarışmadaki kadın onun annesi değil. Annesi başka bir kadın. Zaten yarışmada da çok anne-oğul gibi durmuyorlar.
📍Şimdilerde evlilik programlarında ya da benzer programlarda hep ajanslardan oyuncu gönderiyorlar deniyor ya, eskiden de durum pek farklı değilmiş. 😊

Every time I post about 1453 I get a bunch of the same replies automatically trying to change the topic to 1204. Over the years it’s crazy how predictable and reliably formulaic these nationalist responses are. It’s always 1453->1204. Or Turkey is criticized so talk about Greece.

By the time of the First Crusade the battle of Tours was 363 years old, the Muslims had been ejected from Sicily and southern France and much of the Levant had been conquered by the Turks.
People really need to stop trying to link the expansion under the Umayyad Caliphate to the crusades.

By the time of the Crusades, there had already been a Muslim incursion so deep into France that the ensuing battle (Tours) was fought midway between Nantes and Paris. The Muslims owned Sicily. They owned Spain. They were deep into India. They weren't a peaceful retiring civilization happy to tend their gardens.
In fact after the First Crusade, the Muslims continued to conquer, eventually taking down the Byzantines and all the Balkans.
The First Crusade was an audacious and courageous strike against a force that the crusaders felt menaced all Christendom. Were they justified? That has to be determined by your own moral compass. But certainly they weren't just picking on the poor oppressed Mohammedans.

The Crusades were not random wars of aggression. The Crusades were the Eastern Christian response to centuries of Islamic conquest. They were primarily defensive wars. In early Christianity there were five centers of high authority: Rome, Alexandria, Constantine, Antioch, and Jerusalem. Each one had a Bishop and administered a large region, both politically and religiously. The origins were Apostolic and the cities were the core seats of Christian authority. Islam rose out of the Arabian Peninsula in the early 600s. Almost immediately after consolidating power in Arabia, the Muslim state launched rapid military expansion against its neighbors from 632 onward. Islam took 3 out of 5 of the Patriarchal Holy Sees (Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem) in the 7th century. The Crusades were the Eastern counteroffensive. The Muslims had conquered the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) and were in Tours, France by 732. It took over 700 years for the Spaniards to expel the invaders. The Reconquista was a parallel Western front. The Ottomans laid seige to central Europe for hundreds of years. They took the Balkans and Constantinople fell in 1453. Vlad Tepes of Wallachia (reimagined in modern times as the horror character Dracula) fought them off heroically for 6 years and drove them out of his principality. They laid seige on Vienna in 1529 and were expelled from Vienna 160 years later. Only Rome remained from the original Holy Sees after 1453 when Constantinople fell. Things you don't learn in school these days.

@SandyofCthulhu It was Andalusians in Tours. Sicily was an independent Barbary emirate. India was under Turkic Ghaznavids. Seljuk Turks were in Anatolia. Levant had several independent local states. They were all independent entities, different states, different languages, different people.

İstanbul Pendik'te otopark tartışması nedeniyle galerici komşusu Seyfettin B. tarafından silahla vurularak öldürülen Hüseyin Teke'nin kayınbiraderi yaşananları böyle anlattı:
"Eniştem evine geliyor, galerici Seyfettin B.'yi otoparktaki arabalar için arıyor. 'Otopark mevzusunu ne yapacağız, arabaları ne zaman çekeceğiz. Bir şey yapalım' diyor.
Seyfettin, 'Sen beni bu konudan dolayı arayamazsın' diyerek bir anda fevri çıkış yapıyor. Bu arabalar ne zaman çekilecek?' diye soruyor.
Sonra arbede sonucunda eniştem kalbinden 2 kurşun ve kollarından vuruluyor. Evliydi 2 çocuğu vardı. Bir tanesi 11, biri 4 buçuk yaşında. Perişan oldular. Yetim kaldılar."

İstanbul Pendik’te oto galeri sahibi Seyfettin B., iş yerinde yer kalmayınca araçlarını apartman otoparkına park etti. Aynı binada yaşayan Hüseyin Teke, aracına yer bulamayınca komşusu Seyfettin B.’yi arayıp tartıştı. Bir süre sonra binanın önünde karşı karşıya gelen taraflar arasında çıkan silahlı kavgada Seyfettin B., Hüseyin Teke’yi 11 yaşındaki kızının yanında vurarak öldürdü.
