CASE UPDATE from @FBINashville: Eleven Charged in Methamphetamine Trafficking Conspiracy Allegedly Directed from Inside Tennessee Prison A federal grand jury has returned a 17-count superseding indictment charging eleven defendants with participating in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine throughout the Middle District of Tennessee. According to court filings, Corey Byrd, who is currently serving a 45-year sentence in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction, allegedly directed much of the conspiracy by using contraband cell phones to coordinate methamphetamine trafficking through a network of associates. NEWS ALERT from @FBIAtlanta: An #FBI-led Homeland Security Task Force investigation dismantled a cartel-linked drug trafficking operation in Athens, resulting in the seizure of 26 firearms, fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and cash. Two defendants now face life in federal prison. The HSTF is a United States government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, transnational gangs, and transnational criminal organizations worldwide. This initiative identifies TCOs engaged in a wide range of criminal schemes that violate federal law, while dismantling cross-border human smuggling and trafficking networks that fuel violence and instability that threaten the safety and security of the United States and its global partners. For the first time ever, the @FBI is now compliant with our IT systems against insider threats. In September 2021, the Committee for National Security Systems Directive 504 (CNSSD 504) established minimum insider threat and User Activity Monitoring (UAM) requirements for all Executive Branch agencies - including keystroke monitoring, full application content capture, screen capture, file shadowing, and user attribution. Previous leadership did little to nothing about it – leaving the Bureau vulnerable and out of compliance for years. We fixed it. This week, we got the official update that the FBI is 504 compliant against insider threats for the first time ever. When you see media criticize changes we are making at your FBI, this is what they leave out – predecessors did nothing to fix many egregious problems making the FBI and ultimately the country more vulnerable. Every day under this administration we are fixing those problems and better serving you.

Operation Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful is a task force made up of this #FBI, its federal law enforcement partners, and the National Guard with the purpose of increasing public safety and beautification efforts around Washington, D.C. Task Force member agencies are committed to a coordinated effort to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to safety in the District. Together, this partnership has seized thousands of firearms, executed thousands more warrants, and facilitated the recovery of missing children.

Great visit with the WH FIFA Task Force ‘Special Events Coordination Center’ led by my friend @AndrewHGiuliani – a central interagency hub for real-time coordination and intelligence sharing as we safeguard the World Cup across 11 host cities, as well as Canada and Mexico. The @FBI is proud to serve among the lead security agencies for the most successful World Cup in history – already having shattered attendance records with two weeks to go. Overall FBI continues to leverage resources from 53 Field Offices, 13 Headquarters Divisions, and 2 LEGAT offices, with over 4,500 personnel supporting the games – the most extensive level of support the FBI has provided a global sporting event in its history. CASE UPDATE from @FBISanAntonio: Nihilistic Violent Extremist Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison in San Antonio Alexis Chavez, a San Antonio-based member of a Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) group related to the 764 network, was sentenced to 40 years in prison, lifetime supervised release, and to pay $10,000 in restitution for racketeering activity and multiple acts relating to the sexual exploitation of children. CASE UPDATE from @FBISanJuan: Individuals Sentenced to 35 and 25 Years in Prison for Firearms Violations and Double Murder Sean Díaz-De León and Juan Carlos Pagán-Bonilla have been sentenced for the murder of two transgender women in April 2020 in Humacao, PR. The defendants were arrested in 2020 and pleaded guilty in October and December 2025. Díaz-De León pleaded guilty to shooting and killing both victims and disposing of their bodies with co-defendant Pagán-Bonilla. Visiting the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC), FEMA’s interagency operations center in Washington D.C. where DHS components and other federal partners like FBI, DOW, DOE, EPA, and DOT are co-located to respond for the American people in times of crisis. Their work and planning helps communities stay safe in the aftermath of emergency situations and natural disasters, like Super Typhoon Bavi and Super Typhoon Sinlaku earlier this year. During disasters, the NRCC coordinates directly with state and local leaders to expedite recovery and hazard mitigation efforts, as the @FBI provides vital intelligence and information sharing on security threats and implications. With school out for the summer and the recent celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, your FBI is focused on maintaining a safe nation as we all join in on festivities with family and friends. Our agents and support staff have YOU in mind through every arrest, every takedown, every investigation. Our communities are the driving force behind what we do every day. Just last week, @FBIMinneapolis conducted a large-scale gang takedown that dismantled 2 violent gangs responsible for open-air drug markets and repeated acts of gun violence. 19 subjects were apprehended, striking the core of the organization’s operations. In the first five weeks of Summer Heat, the FBI has now arrested over 1,620 violent offenders, conducted 850 drug seizures, which has resulted in the recovery of about 590 kg of cocaine, and has located over 120 children. Though we’re halfway through, these numbers are just the start of what’s to come.

Today’s story behind the numbers: This #FBI’s 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown has resulted in 455 individuals charged in connection with over $6.5 billion in alleged fraud. This alleged fraud involved over $6.5 billion in false claims and significant patient harm, including death. Of the 455 individuals charged, over 90 are doctors or other licensed medical professionals. With partners in 56 federal districts, 45 U.S. states and territories, and 50 state Medicaid Fraud Control Units participating, this takedown is the greatest whole-of-government effort to combat health care fraud in U.S. history. No one is immune from the law. CASE UPDATE from @FBITampa: Lakeland Man Who Fired Bullets That Killed 70-Year-Old-Grandmother and Injured Three Others Sentenced to 30 Years in Federal Prison On December 24, 2020, 70-year-old M.C. was outside her Lakeland home with her family, including young children. At approximately 5:30 p.m., Taqiy Lewis and others engaged in a shootout outside of M.C.’s residence. M.C. was struck twice and killed. After the outstanding early success of the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudster List, already arresting TWO subjects within weeks with apprehensions out of Somalia and Philippines, today the @FBI is announcing another addition:   FAHAD MOHAMED NUR – on the run since 2022 – is wanted for his alleged involvement in a fraud scheme exploiting the Federal Child Nutrition Program in Minnesota during the COVID-19 pandemic, laundering millions in funds intended to reimburse the cost of serving meals to kids in need.   Nur was the owner of a vendor and purported food supplier who received more than $5 million in fraudulent Federal Child Nutrition Program funds – allegedly stealing from the program using fake invoices.   Nur has ties to Somalia and may be living there.   Led by @POTUS @VP and the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud @WHFraudTF, we have already seen over $13 billion in fraud uncovered on behalf of hardworking Americans – and there is more to come.     If you have any information concerning this case, please contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI, your local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov
