Starvation is no longer a looming threat — it’s already the present reality. People queue for hours in the sun, hoping to receive a bag of flour, a can of beans — anything. Alongside the starvation, the death toll keeps climbing. Dozens killed every day, many more injured, and almost no medical care left. Gaza’s already-crippled health system has collapsed further; clinics are overwhelmed, ambulances can’t reach many areas, and there are barely any medics left to respond. In some neighborhoods, the dead are left in the open because there’s no one left to bury them.

Important story about civilians in Gaza: I recently bumped into an IDF soldier and I asked him to share something with me from his time in Gaza. He said that as his unit went from house to house in Gaza, they found weapons in literally every single home they searched. Finally, they got to a house where he was relieved that they didn’t find any weapons. He felt he found the only house that wasn’t involved in violence and terrorism, until he noticed a certificate on the wall in Arabic. He didn’t speak Arabic, but there was a Druze soldier in the unit who did, and he was asked to translate the certificate. He read it and said that it was a certificate presented to the son in family as form of recognition and praise for killing a Jew.
