You’re bearish when the Fed is pumping crazy liquidity in the market? Good luck with that.

I think part of the reason the Boomers don't understand the Gen Z demoralization on society and the economy, is that generally, Boomers believe you suffer now, and it gets better later. Gen Z believes they are suffering now, and it won't get better later.

@NEETzscheIDDQD It’s not a handout. It’s a promise. If you contribute, you get to take the money out. You just want to rob people because you’re a grifter.

@CryptoParadyme They can also just take it by force but, yeah, we should repeal a 400 year old tax because boomers had it extra hard.

If you have ANY extra income, even 5 dollars I would put it in the S&P 500, right now. Things are at an all time high!

I need approximately $475k in cash to buy the property adjacent to us. It just became available for sale and it’s a race against time. I was given until June 15 to sign the contract before it’s listed publicly. Property is 5.5 acres on a pond that connects to our SurfRanch estate property. I have never sold a single share of Tesla nor ever wanted to, but in order for my cash to be freed up, I would have to do so. Granted, this would not be a huge hit, it still was a significant shock and I’m hesitant being that we are so close to SpaceX IPO. What would you do?

I don't care whether the homeowner is wealthy/not wealthy, physically sound/not physically sound, has kids or grandkids/does not have kids or grandkids... I don't care if they own a modest 3 bedroom home or an 8 bedroom compound. It is THEIR home. You are not entitled to it! GFY is too polite for the likes of these people.
satan’s niece@87shenanigans

Genuinely though, why can’t seniors downsize. If they’re living in like a 3-4 bedroom house… why

I’m an advocate for dropping people’s property taxes 40-60% (whichever percentage your state sends to public schools) for people who homeschool or send their kids to private school. Or for people who don’t have kids in school at all. It’s ridiculous to have to pay taxes for something you’ll literally never utilize. But we have to pay because of the people who utilize the most public resources who don’t even contribute to taxes at all.

@LuckyStabbinHat Property taxes pay for things like local police, fire and EMT. Why would seniors need to pay into functioning services like that.

@justhere4fun87 @HannahDCox I understand you’re being a smartass. I just don’t think you’re smart enough to get why government perpetually taxing an unrealized gain is bad for everyone.

People calling for the elderly to not pay property taxes are not altruistic. What the boomers want is to profit off of a broken housing market, forcing their kids and grandkids to buy homes they cannot afford while they refuse to accept policy reforms that would lower their price. In the meantime, they want younger generations to subsidize them in their bloated houses by subsidizing their property taxes. It's disgusting, selfish, and just the latest example of how this generation is ruining the world for others while living like welfare queens.
ally@missmayn

boomers cry about property taxes because their homes have increased so much in value (they love that part) but they’re mad they have to pay taxes based on the higher value of their homes (they think that part is unfair.)

Seniors should not pay property taxes — especially if they own their homes outright. On a side note, Gen X is next in line for retirement, and the hard truth is that many have no idea how they’re going to make it work. They have lived through extremely volatile financial markets, raised children through an overpriced education system, endured inflation, and many have been financially devastated by crushing divorces. The fact is, Gen X has been hammered by the current government and economic system. That means we need to start thinking ahead — quickly. And we cannot ignore the younger generations either. To those who believe the retirement age should be increased, explain how that works when AI is coming for millions of jobs. And let’s not forget the Americans who used their bodies for a paycheck — the tradesmen, laborers, nurses, factory workers, truck drivers, first responders, and everyone else who sacrificed physically to keep this country running. I say this as the son of a blue-collar working man who never missed a day of work because he had a family to provide for. That kind of man built this country. I am not against business innovation. As a self-employed individual, I am business friendly. But at the end of the day, my heart is — and always will be — with the working men and women of this country. They are the backbone of society. We need to think ahead. And we need to do it fast.
