Wireless Festival defends its decision to have Kanye West as headliner after multiple sponsors pulled out, calling for “forgiveness and hope” for the rapper: “Forgiveness and giving people a second chance are becoming a lost virtue in this ever-increasing divisive world, and I would ask people to reflect on their instant comments of disgust at the likelihood of him performing (as was mine) and offer some forgiveness and hope to him as I have decided to do.” (variety.com/2026/music/new…)

The Kanye stuff is an interesting peek into the notion of accountability the post-2017 world. He lost a billion dollars, adidas deal, his wife, and a shit ton of business relationships. I think when people say they want “accountability” they actually mean “total ruin.”

I’m personally glad people still show up for Kanye West’s musical performances. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the man hasn’t done anything to truly harm anyone. He’s just a black man that speaks freely.

PayPal will no longer appear on Wireless Festival branding this year or going forward in light of Ye headlining the event. It is now the third brand to distance itself from the festival, following Pepsi and Diageo. (via ITV News)
