@gerrybhoy007 @JimSpenceDundee Would disagree with that - I think he may well have seen more playing time down south than he would have up here… Look at the likes of Aidan Nesbitt (great player) and how much opportunity he got at Celtic. Not many young boys playing in SPL for anyone

Had an interesting chat with an agent last night. Anyone who thinks Scottish clubs have a serious chance of keeping their very top academy kids out of the clutches of the big clubs there is in la la land. The sums of money he mentioned on offer are just staggering.

@JimSpenceDundee @scottishfsa Maybe some…but mostly not. How many young Scottish players currently playing in SPL? When I first came up here re strikers: O’Connor, Riordan, Boyd, Fletcher, Clarkson, Mackie, McFadden, Miller etc - now look at state of things!

@JimSpenceDundee @scottishfsa Where is the opportunity up here for young players Jim? Look back to early 2000s and how many Scottish players played in SPL opposed to today… Proper footballers will crave opportunity - there is far more elsewhere - it needs to change!

@gerrybhoy007 @JimSpenceDundee For a few minutes here and a few minutes there…and what team did get 90 mins for? There isn’t one in Scotland. Went to Liverpool to play under-23s or equivalent and then loan move to Championship. Money better but opportunity also

@Chrisstrainjnr I can’t imagine boys in Brazil and Argentina come across the same barriers… I imagine if Lamine Yamal was playing up here he would still be under-18s😂 I count myself very lucky having been able to learn of some very good players first hand - not from a PowerPoint!

@bernTM77 @JimSpenceDundee Key word in there is ‘playing’ And best way of learning is playing with ‘seasoned professionals’ Scotland currently offers neither of these possibilities - but young players get stick for moving to English clubs who offer both?!

Are you in favour of a minimum agreed number of Scots born football players (number to be agreed but min of three I’d say ) to be listed in each starting line up in Scotland.

Lack of opportunity is shocking…but exactly how any player is meant to leave school, not play Reserves or something similar regularly and then play First Team is a mystery to me!

Used to paint johns house when he stayed in Midlothian, great guy with great family, yes we used to wind each other up with united and Dundee when he played for them @johnsuttonpt1 whilst I was trying to paint my daughter would be out back with John and his twins playing football
