@GibsonWrites Been on staff at two “mega churches” for 23 years….host funerals, funeral meals, and visitations. My experience with these two churches and all others I know of is that they host funerals.

In my experience mega churches tend not to “do” death. In reporting on them I always ask how many funerals they do each year. They tend to find the question odd because they leave that to funeral homes or the families. It doesn’t work for their space and vibe.

A local non-denominational megachurch held an Easter Service on Friday. They held Easter on Good Friday. That's not how this works. I understand not being liturgical but to basically erase Good Friday is certainly an interesting theologically decision.

@SpencerWall509 There’s also onus on the pastor in that passage (they need to “care”, need to “admonish”, they need to “work hard” - so 3 things in there on how pastors are to treat their congregation. But also consider all their future pastors who will be blessed by you preaching this!

It’s really awkward being a pastor and preaching a passage on how the congregation is supposed to treat pastors (1 Thes. 5:12-13). Just curious: do you have a particular approach for these kinds of passages?

@JoshuaBarzon Three studies (US Gov, AIS, Adicio) show Pastors as one of the top stressful jobs in the nation…along with deployed military, air traffic controllers & first responders. Sabbaticals for rest, recalibration, and refreshing are a must!
