Thanks to the CLS for interviewing me. Lots of hype around the rare earth element potential of coal and coal waste, but without a way to get the rare earths out it will never become economic. This provides a step towards developing a recovery process.

Researchers from @UofRegina @UofRScience found ash from coal-fired power plants in SK, AB contains a rare earth element called yttrium. This study can inform development of processes for recovering the material for use in green technologies. bit.ly/3XE4O1X #climatechange
