@IyerDharmapuri On the contrary, colonization is what *stopped* the famines. Famines existed for as long as the subcontinent has been populated. There was only one famine after 1906, and they were decreasing before then. lse.ac.uk/economics/Asse…

Famines in India increased dramatically under British rule. jasonhickel.org/blog/2023/1/7/…

Jews were wealthy, educated, and respected in Austria and Germany and that's why they stole their things and killed them. You don't know anything about history or oppression. Pity doesn't inspire fascism. Envy does. This is backed up by studying actual genocides. They are nearly always preceded by envy, and then increasing public dialogue centered around casting the target population as threat that should be eliminated. Once that fear precedes to dehumanization, the amygdala is engaged, higher reasoning ends, slaughter can commence. That is why the Jews died in the Holocaust, in the progroms, and at the hands of Rome. It was not because they were poor or wealthy or powerful or powerless. It was not about the Jews at all, really. It was because they were a minority, and the majority decided to scapegoat them.

This one is for you @ZohranKMamdani

But don’t you see the flaw in your reasoning here? You guys spend years raging against edgy humor, anything to do with sexual assault or racism, etc, going on and on about how harmful it is, then the second it benefits you you celebrate murder in the most ghoulish way possible

My most woke linguistics opinion is that AAVE is the most colorful English dialect. American society is massively ignorant regarding its history, development, future trajectory. The extent to which it is discriminated against (job interviews) or misunderstood (in court cases) is a tragedy.

The last few days have exposed just how much of the left still carries a colonial mindset. A Palestine flag or a triangle in your bio means very little if your solidarity ends the moment Palestinians or other Indigenous peoples assert the right to define our own values, norms, and future. Decolonization isn’t just opposition to mass killing. It means Indigenous people reclaiming the right to shape our own society on our own terms, not having Western political, cultural, or social standards imposed on us all over again.
