This image is from inside Qila Mubarak, Patiala, depicted on the wall is Lord Shiva and his family including Shri Ganesha. Qila Mubarak was contructed in 1763 by Sikh ruler of the region, Baba Ala Singh as a mud fort marking the rise of the Patiala dynasty, and over time it evolved under successive rulers into a grand royal complex. His grandson Maharaja Amar Singh expanded it by building the inner palace (Qila Androon), while Maharaja Karam Singh developed its administrative and outer sections, turning it into a functioning seat of governance. Later, Maharaja Narinder Singh enhanced its artistic and architectural grandeur, reflecting the cultural sophistication of the state. Together, these rulers transformed Qila Mubarak from a defensive structure into the royal residence and enduring symbol of Patiala’s political and cultural legacy. Image credit - @flyingpebbles

Early in the seventh century a new Buddha type appeared in Southeast Asia, inspired by innovations that were taking place in northern India. The wellspring was the important monastic school at Sarnath. metmuseum.org/art/collection…

Shiva Kachhi (دراوڙ)🇵🇰
Karachi Sindh The desecration of the statues of Bhagwan Krishna and the Gopis at the historic Sagan Mason building in Karachi is deeply and strongly condemnable. This is not just damage to a structure, but an attack on Pakistan’s multicultural heritage, religious harmony, and the sentiments of minority communities. Statement by Chairman Pakistan Darawar Ittehad @PItehad, Fakir Shiva Kachhi: “We strongly condemn this shameful act. The historic building located on M.A. Jinnah Road in Karachi was constructed in 1937 and reflects the rich presence of Hindu religious symbols. The beheading of the statues of Bhagwan Krishna and the Gopis is not only an act of religious disrespect but also destruction of our shared heritage.” He further stated: “We demand that the @BBhuttoZardari @ZiaLanjar @SindhGovtPk, @SindhPoliceDMC @OfficialDGISPR , and concerned authorities take immediate notice. The perpetrators must be arrested without delay and given strict punishment. Immediate restoration and protection of this historic building must be ensured.” Demands: • Transparent investigation into the incident • Immediate arrest of those involved • Security for Sagan Mason and other minority religious and historical sites • Urgent restoration of the damaged statues “Pakistan belongs to all — protecting the religious sentiments of minorities is the responsibility of the state.” @HamidMirPAK #SaveMinorities #RespectReligions #Karachi #Sindh #HumanRights
