On 29 March 2026, Serbia’s local elections were overshadowed by deeply troubling reports from independent media and observers: violence, intimidation and assaults against citizens, journalists and election monitors. In several locations, including Kula and Bor, masked individuals armed with sticks were seen near polling stations. At the same time, the headquarters of the opposition NPS was raided, and its president, along with others, was held for hours under highly questionable conditions.
These incidents are not isolated. They reflect a broader pattern already flagged by observers: a deteriorating electoral environment marked by pressure, abuse and shrinking democratic guarantees. At best, the authorities failed to ensure a free and safe vote; at worst, they enabled a climate incompatible with Serbia’s European commitments.
Sandro Gozi, Secretary General of the European Democratic Party, has therefore tabled a parliamentary question to the European Commission, calling for a clear condemnation, an independent investigation, and concrete consequences in the EU’s assessment of Serbia’s respect for the rule of law and democratic standards.

This is literally the way how the Słuzba Bezpieczenstwa(Polish version of KGB) operated during the People’s Republic of Poland. They would do this to anyone who opposed the puppet Soviet backed government in Poland and ruin families lives. What you are seeing here is Vucic suppressing democracy. This is exactly why my Dad left Poland for America. And I don’t understand how people can defend this??
