@MartinSLewis Despite having this in advance, it was still very stressful, difficult and expensive. Having the LAP sorted was not a magic passport. It barely greased the wheels of resistance from banks etc.

Have you been through the Court of Protection (or equivalent) to get an Attorney for someone who lost their faculties and didn't have a Power of Attorney in advance. If so how did you find the process and cost? Was it easy or stressful. Was it expensive.

Power of Attorney is arguably more important than a Will (I’ll discuss both on @ItvMLshow tomorrow). If you lose your faculties, it lets someone smoothly take over financial and health decisions. @MartinSLewis @itvMLshow The idea that it lets you take over finance decisions smoothly is fanciful I'm afraid. That may be the intent, but it is not the reality. Yes, better with than without for sure, but stop promoting this as a smooth path? I had to battle with some firms for months.

It is not smooth – and even with it money for care can be inaccessible. Talk to me about my horror story.. There is a difference between what it should be and is.
