Age verification in 'systemd' is just the beginning.
The next logical step for the state would be to say: "A file stored locally is not a reliable source of information, because a goy might lie", and that some trusted government source is needed to verify each slave's KYC information (name, email, phone number, tax ID, bank account, vaccination passport), and issue them a key (identifier) that the slave can insert into 'birthDate' (.JSON), and only then will the slave be allowed to access the internet.
1) an unverified goy cannot install certain apps/programs/packages;
2) an unverified goy cannot use certain services;
Also, it would be logical to ensure that software created by an unidentified developer is considered terrorist software and cannot be installed even if the system user is verified. And the very attempt to install such software would be automatically reported to the government.

The Arch Linux Core Dev Team is asking r/ArchLinux sub-reddit mods to censor people unhappy with Age Verification in Arch. It appears that Arch Linux considers criticism of Age Verification to be a "Code of Conduct" violation. From an r/ArchLinux moderator responding to a censored user: "I got a DM from much higher up the chain asking me to remove it. Whilst I technically don't answer to them, I do respect their wishes. They don't like someone they consider as part of the core dev teams being called out like that. What you did broke the Arch Linux CoC."

this absolutely baffles me. why are so many linux distros basically just caving on adding age verification, and closing off discussion on whether this is a good idea or not.

Would systemd add a "totally optional" race field just because some white supremacist shithole country wanted it? Of course not: doing that would be sending a very clear message of racism.
An age field is not harmless. It's a very strong political message of support.

This will fail for atleast four reasons.
1)
deepfake technology can already fool facial recognition systems.
2)
people will just use someone elses face or a photo.
3)
VPNs and spoofing tools make device level verification unreliable.
4)
the people building the most sophisticated bots are the same people who can reverse engineer whatever system Reddit deploys in about a weekend.
Announcing this publicly just gave them a head start.

@Polymarket The fact that Reddit needs Face ID to verify humans is the most honest benchmark we have for how good AI-generated content has actually become. We didn't notice the line until we crossed it.
