Revenue is easy to romanticize. Costs are where the story gets honest.

instead of paying $20/mo for a SaaS, I vibecoded my own solution for only $337 in credits, then hit a roadblock that AI couldnt figure out how to fix, so decided to pay $20/mo for the SaaS instead

It hurts. But its manageable as long as your tracking all your numbers combined you get the full picture. I built An indie hacker builder expenses dashboard Indie Spend to help track all of the expenses and my stripe revenue and costs including the refunds feed and all that in one place

I think a lot of founders make pricing decisions with half the picture. They know demand. They know MRR. They do not know true operating cost by product.
