@miraxpath

Atheist. Rather strident. Feminist. Somewhat shrill. Wholly ironic.

✍️✍️One of the best articles about KM is Dr Geoff Wade’s 2009 article “The Origins and Evolution of Ethnocracy in Malaysia”. He argues that Malaysia operates as an ethnocracy: a system in which one ethnic group monopolizes political power, the judiciary, public administration, police, armed forces, universities, and large parts of the economy, while systematically marginalizing Chinese, Indian and non-Malay citizens. This dominance is not a “natural” historical condition but a deliberate construction rooted in British decolonization policy from 1942 onward. Fearing Chinese influence and communist insurgency during the Cold War, British officials allied with UMNO to reverse the egalitarian 1946 Malayan Union and impose the 1948 Federation of Malaya Constitution. This enshrined special Malay rights (later Article 153), favorable citizenship rules, and Malay “paramountcy.”After independence (1957) and the formation of Malaysia (1963), the system was consolidated through the 1969 May 13 riots, the suspension of Parliament, and especially the New Economic Policy (NEP, 1971). The NEP institutionalized Bumiputera quotas (targeting 30% equity ownership), education preferences, land reservations, scholarships, housing discounts, and public-sector hiring. Successive UMNO-led governments under Razak, Hussein Onn, and Mahathir expanded these measures, coupled with Islamization, media control, gerrymandering, sedition laws banning challenges to Malay privileges, and control of history textbooks. Wade documents the resulting over-representation (>90–96% Malay in police, military, and many ministries) and exclusion of non-Malays, which has fueled emigration, social tension and corruption. He concludes that the ethnocracy — sustained by constitutional entrenchment, myths of indigeneity and a “social contract,” and coercive legislation has fractured Malaysian society and deviates from the non-discrimination principles nominally present in the Constitution. #Malaysia #KetuananMelayu #RealHistory Click here: apjjf.org/geoff-wade/325…

@DennisN We live in a time where very few have any sense of right and wrong and our leaders are abysmal. I have been on the disillusionment spiral the last decade or so.

@JessBrownFuller The irony of using your 6 year old child on a social media post to push your policy of banning social media for children is staggering

I love that we’re the new Rome. Peace with Persia in the afternoon and a gladiator fight in the evening, all on the Emperor’s birthday. Another 1,000 years.

I stopped being surprised many years ago. Many Msian Malays on social media are racist as fuck. Msian minorities are not. Accept that you live in one of the most racist countries in the world.
Helter Skelter@Roshinee_M

The amount of racism and vitriol on the Malaysian timeline is unfathomable. I am no stranger to being at the receiving end of this, but I really wanna assume some are bots and trolls - cause surely it’s not possible for so many to have that much hate in their heart kan? Kan? 🥹

@imanHiqal Sure. Then be consistent. When the Israelis shoot down Pallie terrorists, don't hop up and down screeching racism. Zionism is a more principled ideology than Ketuanan Melayu btw.

The treatment of indigenous peoples in Malaysia is much worse. Many "malays" are resettled Indonesians, filipinos, thais. No country is obliged to receive refugees, especially when they have no capacity to care for them as with you lot and your Rohingya.

@MG92__2 Yes, the anti-semitic and anti-indian memes are there because jews and Indians actually outperform, outearn whites and are seen as competitors who need to be taken down. Indians are CEO's of global companies and a half-Tamil woman ran for the top political office in the world.

@MG92__2 They do not seem to realise that they can argue without using racial slurs. And the ones adopting the pajeet memes by way of their inbred Paki co-religionists are so funny. As funny as the Malays into neo-nazi memes. Do they not realise their own position on the race hierarchy?

China is watching today's events closely, and they now know that if they so much as lift a finger toward Taiwan, Trump is going to respond harshly by signing a deal and giving them Thailand and Vietnam along with full sovereignty over the South China Sea. They better be careful.
