@Paul_B_Watson @eddiegibbs Point was made on a pod somewhere The control type of game, requires less "running" and you'd imagine, implementing that at training would see players running less, with less intensity. Are their fittness levels below previous years?

@eddiegibbs The stat that shocked me the most yesterday was the fact we’ve been outrun in something like 26/28 of 32 games this season…😵‍💫 That’s either down to players not able to anymore (then fresh legs were needed) and/or coaching / set up / prep Not good!!

🟥 The Manager, The Ownership, The Inevitable As laid out in my match post earlier, the performance wasn't an outlier. It fits a pattern that has been building for months. This should have been addressed in November. The evidence was already there. Since then, it has only grown stronger and more damning. Five consecutive domestic defeats, something not seen since 1953. Six losses in seven league games, going back to 1902. Nine defeats in twelve matches, the worst run in over seventy years. Ten league defeats in a season, a threshold not crossed in more than a decade. Nineteen defeats across the 2025 calendar year, set against one in the entirety of 2024. These are not selective numbers. They are the reality of where Liverpool are. FSG, along with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, own that reality. This is their appointment, their structure, their judgement. Reluctance to confront a failing decision has allowed the situation to deepen. There is a sense that being proven right has been prioritised over being effective. They rarely speak, but when they do, it's often about data guiding decisions. The data now is unequivocal. Performances have declined, results have collapsed, and the trajectory is unmistakable. The head coach looks like a man awaiting his fate. The players look unconvinced. The supporters are moving beyond anger into something colder, to a man, woman, boy, or girl; we are doubters again. This international break offers a final opportunity to act. Not as panic, but as recognition. A week ago, the idea of an interim felt unnecessary to me. Now it feels like a question worth asking. What is there to lose? The only caveat is clear: it cannot be someone seeking to turn it into a permanent role. The club must not stumble into another long-term mistake. If a short-term figure, even someone like Steven Gerrard, can restore belief, connection and basic standards, then it's worth considering. Do nothing, and the direction of travel is already clear.

“The big story in Ireland over the past three decades is the emergence of an Irish entrepreneurial class that has taken risks to open small businesses, when it might be easier to take a secure job and let someone else wake up at night worrying about paying the rates, the wages and keeping a myriad of other people such as suppliers, retailers, landlords and of course customers, happy. These are the real heroes of the Irish economy. Many are not rich. They do it because it is in their DNA. They are disrupters, people who do not want a wage, an insurance policy or a boss. They want to create something new and better than the next person. Creatures of commerce, they think differently to the political class or the Brahmin caste of high professionals. These are the people who make the economy fire on all cylinders. Without them, Ireland would go back to the 1980s, mired in low growth, high unemployment, encumbered with debts we can’t pay. With them, a million more jobs will be created.”

Imagine if it was illegal for politicians to lie! Wales introduced the Elections and Elected Bodies Bill, to make it a criminal offense for politicians to make willfully misleading or false statements during election campaigns. It applies only during election periods but its a great feckin start! We need this. To make it work in Ireland would involve amending the Electoral Acts or Standards in Public Office Commission framework. Now there`d be huge Constitutional hurdles under Article 40.6.1, which offers strong protection of political speech, but defends lies and exaggerations from our political class. We all know during election time they'd say mass, then once they get in theyre laughing. A law modelled on the Welsh approach wouldnt force politicians to put their money where their mouth is, or face the consequces. Demand accountability. @Cathal1798 @IrishTimesOpEd She literally sickens my stomach. There is something very wrong with a woman of her age who would willingly send our youth out to their deaths. She is a flawed character, that’s beyond doubt but what does it say of our media, only too willing to entertain her?

Remember Leonard Prescott? Bayern's 16 year old goalkeeper that will be featuring for them tomorrow night? Bayern Munich need a government permit to play him tomorrow. Not a football permit. A labour law permit. Welcome to the world of Sports Lawyers.. Leonard Prescott cannot legally play at 9pm in Germany. He is 16. The law says under-18s are to stop work at 8pm. Bayern are currently applying for a special exemption for him tho. I always say that sports law does not exist in a vacuum. Wednesday night is the proof. Because right now Bayern Munich are not just dealing with a goalkeeping crisis. They are dealing with a labour law collision that nobody saw coming. Under Section 8(1) of Germany's Jugendarbeitsschutzgesetz, minors under 18 are prohibited from working after 8pm. The Champions League match against Atalanta kicks off at 9pm and ends around 11pm. Prescott cannot legally participate without a special exemption permit from the relevant trade supervisory authority. That permit also requires consent from both parents, his pediatrician and his school before it can be approved. According to @Gazpachen Bayern are currently processing that application. If the permit is approved, German law then requires a minimum of 12 hours uninterrupted rest before his next working period. So the day after a potential Champions League debut, a 16-year-old legally cannot be asked to train before midday. Hope you have learned something today. My name is Ajoje. I am a FIFA Licensed Agent and International Sports Lawyer. I write on the Law and Business of Football, a lot. Repost and Follow if you want to read more posts like this. #FCB #UCL #Bayern

Whatever reservations I have about the new rules about the overall growth and health of the game, the lads coming through now having played it from 13/14/15 are going to burn it up. We are going to see so much attacking skill and bravery going forward. This is beautiful deception

Dan has two tweets on Ireland he does in rotation. 1. No one pays any attention to what we say or do, this is narcissistic exceptionalism. 2. Everyone is talking about us and calling us freeloaders for not joining NATO and spending billions on weapons of war. Which is it Dan?
Dan O'Brien@danobrien20

'In her address, [President] Connolly again stated how Ireland, more than any other nation, was able to renew commitment to diplomacy and peace.' @Independent_ie This narcissistic exceptionalism needs to be called out. Nobody outside a deluded coterie of cranks in Ireland believes we are 'uniquely' positioned to lead in global affairs. How many times over the decades has Dublin, rather than Geneva, been the place where peace talks take place? There is a price to be paid when heads of state harbour delusions of grandeur and parrot them publicly. That price could well be paid tomorrow in the White House if a journalist asks the Taoiseach about the President's comments.
