Amateur Teams. If your team is losing by more than a run and your leadoff hitter in the 9th swings at the first pitch, he's either a selfish player or your team is poorly coached. If your second hitter watches the first hitter swing at the first pitch and he does the same thing, your entire team may be selfish and is without question poorly coached. If your hitters are hacking 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 and the tying run isn't at the plate, your team is either selfish, dumb, poorly coached or quit on you. The creation of offense requires being intelligent enough to allow the other team an opportunity to help you.

Hitters Be Smart. 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 swings need to be exactly what you're looking for, exactly where you're looking for it, and you need to be locked in enough to put your best swing on it. 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 outs on shitty swings are game changers. They feed pitchers. Elite pitchers want you swinging, and they want you swinging a lot. They can't stand disciplined hitters that force pitch counts. Great hitters walk a lot. Because they refuse to help pitchers get them out.

The first and third bunt is one of the best and most underutilized plays in baseball. Scores a runner and moves a runner into scoring position. Trading an out for a run and moving a runner into scoring position is winning baseball.

Defense. 1st and 3rd. If the catcher throws through, the first baseman needs to trail the runner, after catcher release (eat up ground) and the pitcher needs to sprint to first base. Early break rundown situation. Pitcher should step off, look runner back to 3rd, turn glove side and give the ball up to the 2nd baseman, the first baseman trails the runner and the pitcher sprints to first base. The first baseman trails the runner in both situations to allow the middle infielder the opportunity to catch and unload to first baseman (tag runner) before the runner at third scores.
