Shift in tone. This goes for the whole series, it always had some sense of humour about itself to break up the horror elements but that's been slowly bleeding out of the series as they aim for a more purely serious tone and it's taken some of the unique flavour from the series.

RE4 was already pretty linear. The remake at points feel like it has to hold your hand.
