@jasminewsun There's literally zero evidence for this insane thesis.

Most people I know in AI think the median person is screwed, and they have no idea what to do about it.
I spent the last 3 months talking to dozens of researchers, economists, and policy experts about AI's impact on work; including reps from every frontier lab and several Congressional offices. Unfortunately, I was not reassured.
The AI industry is raising the alarm, but can't change course. These companies' core business model relies on the disruption they are warning about: their faith in full automation only makes them go faster.
Policymakers are waking up, but still paralyzed by data and debates. Econ wonks disagree on plenty, but even the limited scenario looks like a "painful transition" that will disempower millions of workers.
But an "underclass" is not inevitable, but rather a societal choice — and one we can and should stop. Instead of waiting for impact, we should start planning now to support workers through AI disruption. Whether policymakers can assuage concerns about economic security may determine if we get to reap AI's gains at all.
New from me for @NYTOpinion. I put a ton into researching what I think may be the biggest topic of the year, so hope you read it (gift link here!) nytimes.com/2026/04/30/opi…

Dennis Olson - With the acquisition in partnership with cattle producers acquiring the Sustainable Beef slaughter plant in North Platte, Nebraska, along with two other further processing plants in Georgia and Kansas, Walmart has now completed their vertical integration of the beef supply chain.

Sheer insanity. Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Meta collectively are spending more money than the Manhattan Project *every single month*. More than 12x the Manhattan Project every year.
And what they have got to show for it?
None are making major profits on AI; none has a technical moat; a massive price war is inevitable. And few of their customers are seeing major returns on investment.
Greatest capital misallocation in history.

@Amy_Siskind And???? The wack job was there to assassinate the President, regardless of party. Lock him up and throw away the key.

A review by WAPO found that Allen did not fire his gun, despite the DOJ charging him with doing so. That would also mean that the secret service agent who was struck, and is fortunately okay, was hit by friendly fire.
I gifted this so you can read it.

@Amy_Siskind It's not a gift. You have to create an account. WAPO bullshit.

Reality TV production in Los Angeles has seen the steepest decline of any category since 2022, plunging 52% in the past year.
TV drama and comedy posted modest gains in the first quarter of 2026 on the back of increased state subsidies, a benefit reality TV didn’t share since it doesn’t receive state incentives.

@BenStiller What about non-legacy actors? They have no shot at all. Hope you can empathize.
English

There are already very few buyers out there. Original ideas and non legacy IP is extremely hard to get made by a major studio or network. The winnowing down of choices results in less opportunity for new voices and diverse viewpoints in what we all are given the opportunity to see. It’s already been challenging for years, and the merger will only make this worse.
Mark Ruffalo@MarkRuffalo
HBO was the only streamer willing to make “I Know This Much Is True”. Very difficult material. We won an Emmy and a Golden globe for it. Knocking out even one streaming service, or combining even two, would have made “I Know This Much Is True” impossible to get made.
English

@BenStiller You and @MarkRuffalo are box office poison.
Your constant political ramblings and diatribes drive off half of the nation's audience.
Then you wonder why nobody wants to watch or purchase your products.

I saw someone make the Odell Beckham Jr. comp the other day and now I can’t not see it. The ball tracking and vice grip hands obviously made OBJ elite elite, but the suddenness/smoothness and ability to flip momentum, glide and then explode instantly to top speed is so similar.

I would just like to say that the worst, most bad faith interaction I've ever had with a Hill office was also Swalwell. And I've had plenty of professional, cordial interactions with Democrat offices. Only Swalwell's behaved like absolute cretins.
Matt Stoller@matthewstoller
It's well known Swalwell was a corrupt monster. The worst meeting I ever had on the Hill was with a Swalwell staffer. Mean, corrupt, and dumb. But the Dem club protected him, because that's what they do. x.com/JoeBiden/statu…
