EXPLORING TRUMP'S NCAA EXECUTIVE ORDER: President Trump NCAA Executive Order is a path toward actual NIL and Transfer Portal Legislation and the "experts" just don't get it. Let's break it down in Episode 25 of The ProZone Show.

@RazorRam0n @full_send_mma Your government literally was physically pulling people off the street during Covid and locking them in internment camps. Before that they already seized your guns. That’s precisely what Hitler did before forcing all Jews into the ghettos. You can’t say a damn thing,

@heitner Ahhh those lawyers love those law suits. Any way to make money off of these athletes. And they never gave a crap about athletes before they found out they could use them to get rich.

The whole "save college sports" movement is rooted in the myth that NIL is going to force schools to cut Olympic sports. As Arkansas found out, like Stanford and others before them, these sports all have alumni who care deeply about those programs and stepped up to fund them.
Brandon Marcello@bmarcello

Arkansas is bringing back its men's and women's tennis programs after announcing they were being cut April 24. What a whirlwind. And a bad look.

@cwhall75 I find it funny that coaches and U.S. Soccer support this, but those who don't coach, play or organize the sport in any way are the ones bitching about it.

My guy, how does having training staffs stretched thin, facilities being overused and depts being too busy to promote and staff games benefit the Student-Athletes? We all work in this industry to give them the best experience possible and are telling you this will hurt that!
Matt Roberts@RecruitBoss

You are the kind of people who just stack the negatives to get your way, or to run opposition to any new way of thinking, but not one of you thinks of positives. I have already seen some coaches like the concept because it benefits the student-athletes....which is what college is supposed to be about right?

@ussoccer Finally the actual coaches and people to PLAY the sport or run the sport and understand logistics are chiming in with a positive stance.

@RWall5 This is the first positive response I have seen toward this change from anybody in college. At least you are an actual coach. The rest are either "fans", reporters, alum or administrators constantly offering negatives but no positives.

@RecruitBoss I would love for it to work, but those of us who actually work in college athletics are sounding the alarm for a reason. Maybe this will explain better
Vincent Briedis@VincentBriedis

So much to unpack here. 1. Support staffs are already understaffed for many schools across the nation. 2. A lot of units like SIDs and athletic training are covering soccer in the fall and baseball/softball in the spring. At low resource D1 schools - some may have a basketball too. Add in lower numbers in video and creative with a bevy of other sports going on - burnout will continue to trend higher and higher year over year. 3. At NCAA championship caliber programs like Virginia - you now have men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse and men’s soccer - all programs any given year could win an NCAA title - sharing one of the nation’s best grass surfaces at Klöckner Stadium. What does wear and tear as well as scheduling look like? That doesn’t include women’s soccer if that that move is made. Now it’s 4 NCAA title seeking programs. 4. With Rev/Share we are already seeing elimination of tennis and other programs. If women’s soccer moves to fall/spring model too - how many sports are eliminated 5 years from now? Men’s soccer is already under represented at 40% less than women’s soccer. 5. I know the soccer community wants this - but the infrastructure in college sports doesn’t exist to properly support what needs to be done for the better good of all sports. 6. I remember COVID when soccer played in spring and logistics wise it was a nightmare. I covered a few soccer games as the lacrosse SID because the soccer SID had baseball. 7. You will see more and more support people leaving college sports that are at places that don’t support their support people with additional resources but expect the same output.

@ByPatForde It's no wonder why college sports is getting taken apart by lawyers and athletes. All I have heard regarding this change from the college coaches is negativity.

@RecruitBoss The people who work in athletic departments are telling everyone it will cause issues, and are saying exactly what the issues will be. I recommend reading the replies and quote tweets from them and see how those in athletics are all saying the same things

The Sherman Anti-Trust Act was created to stop monopolies that restrain interstate or foreign trade. I repeat Lawyers and judges have co-opted that 1890 act to apply to college athletes who are not employees to begin with because it helps lawyers find a way to make money off of these athletes….that they never cared about before “NIL” came into the picture.

@RecruitBoss Just out of curiosity, why do you believe the Sherman Act, in your words, “actually does not apply.” Perhaps it was just a poor choice of words, but, yes, the Sherman Act indeed *does* apply to joint ventures and labor side markets. That’s not what’s in dispute here.

It’s bizarre to see Congressional Republicans, the purported party of free-market economics, support a bill that destroys free labor markets for revenue-generating college athletes. One can only ask themselves why. And none of the potential answers are pretty.
Ross Dellenger@RossDellenger

Rep. Lori Trahan sent to House members a letter urging them to oppose the SCORE Act: “The SCORE Act is a partisan project that would permanently curtail the rights of college athletes.“
