This book and I are the same age 😲 It was my Grandma's 💕 This is a great British manufacturer that went from Newcastle to St Alban's and has effectively lasted through the various societal changes & you can still buy the book! I feel a pineapple upside down cake coming on!

@Lowiseowl It's in the old Great Central Station, Leicester's second railway station until Beeching had it closed down. It was used to receive the post for Leicester however which will be why you saw remnants relating to that.

When out with the people who go to my gym yesterday - bowling which was inside this epic old building in #Leicester I think a postal service building. Stunning inside too although it was frantic and loud with all the excitement of bowling, darts, beer pong, crazy golf, karaoke and all sorts of randomness! 😂 Was nice to see so much joy in one place 💞 P.s. I'm not made for bowling but I did hit 11000 steps yesterday so there's always a positive 😂

@Lowiseowl In the last year/18 months of Tory shithousery the barristers went on strike for this. Several on twitter including @BarristerSecret spoke about it a lot. Another example of the Tories not investing in public sector. Lab trialling use of ass. Pros. and specialist rape courts.

@Lowiseowl Your general malaise is understandable, things are definitely weird right now. On an individual level I believe a digital detox helps. Certainly don't do what I do and waste time on pointless arguments.

@MarkARejoiner @profgrump I listened to it as it was happening. My interpretation was as I put, she is right that instant visual racism is linked to skin colour therefore more prevalent. I didn't hear her say anything to diminish Jewish/other ppls experience of racism. I need to do more research on this

When I heard this today, I felt like she was right Visibly you can see skin colour, you can't see Traveller, Jewish, Christian, Gay, Lesbian.... And many people discriminate on the basis of what they immediately see I'm confused & interested to understand why this all happened

@MarkARejoiner @Lowiseowl No she didn't. She only said it was less prevalent not that the impact was any worse or less. She clarified by stating BAME people start experiencing it on sight, and you couldn't necessarily tell a Jewish or Irish person until you engaged, if you did. That's not wrong.

I am loath to criticise my former BBC colleagues and I’m aware they weren’t in on the story. But the idea of a TV presenter losing his job being the top story on the website as opposed to Parliament being kept in the dark for two years about the Afghan data leak is risible.

Are we short of real resources? NO. Can HMgov ever run out of £ or go bust? NO. If the objective is to provide decent public services, just create the £, employ available resources. You can still tax the rich, we don't need them or their £. But why only 2%? 90% is better!
