@robotormonkey @JMPSimor I overstayed a 90 day visitor permit by a couple of decades. Before September 11th, 2001 we just filled in a card on the plane. Data protection didn't allow them to check passenger manifests in advance of leaving UK airspace.

@robotormonkey @JMPSimor From the UK you obtain an ESTA where they vet you in advance for holidays. Visas are required for long term visits, work or people like me who can't obtain an ESTA because I'm banned from the Police States of America for life. Not that I'd apply for either.
