@RealCanuck MPs do not decide who the prime minister is.

@davidfrum Our thoughts are with your family today. Always a difficult one to get through. The memories come flooding in.

Two years ago this day, about 3 am, my daughter Miranda left this earth to go to whatever destiny awaits the good and the brave. I wrote this about her a few weeks afterward, no paywall. theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…

@acoyne These Trump flunkies are toxic, ignorant and unspeakably arrogant.
English

This is not just outrageous but aberrant behaviour for a cabinet minister in a supposed ally. As usual.

Bessent pushes Albertan independence from Canada: "Albertans are very independent people. There's a rumor they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not. People are talking. People want sovereignty. They want what the US has got."

@JJ_McCullough JJ. Do you still stand by your statement that both countries milk is the same?
English

It's amazing what anti-American propaganda can do. American milk is exactly the same as Canadian milk, it just costs more because we put tariffs on it to protect a wealthy cartel of Quebec farmers. But I guess Carney's gambling the country is full of suckers like this guy.

Expand away. No Canadian I know will buy American milk (unless they have a screw loose). It makes us gag 🤮 and shudder to think about drinking American milk. That’s just the way it is. 🤷🏻♂️🇨🇦

@AndrewScheer Pathetic, Andrew. Like it or not Mark Carney is the Prime Minister of Canada. Elected by the citizens of Canada. He took the time to come a non-political celebration of Canadian culture. Please stop this constant carping and get to work doing something positive for the country.
English

Not sure why Carney is allowed on the field during the Grey Cup anthem.
Offensively he hasn’t scored a single point after promising to get a win by the end of July.
Defensively, several other countries have run up their tariff score on his watch.
With his record, why would either team want him anywhere near the playing field?
English

@3DownNation I totally agree. Our current rules and field maximize the game experience. “No lead is safe” was certainly demonstrated through this year’s playoffs.

“Canada has a notably risk-averse private sector. With Carney, it now has a risk-accepting public sector. These need to align if the country is to achieve the “Canada Strong” emblazoned on the budget cover.” via@winnipegfreepress

@jfinch Totally agree, John. Unsettlingly to see how democracy rests on the people in power following norms and conventions. Trump and his minions have no such qualms about breaking those in the move to cement their power permanently. Canada needs to do some fireproofing.
