@DerekGriffin86 Any intervention can be nocebic if contextualised poorly for the patient by the clinician delivering it.

The idea that back pain requires an exercise intervention to make your spine more "robust" is potentially as nocebic as any other reductionist approach to back pain. The implication is that pain is due to lack of robustness/strength.

My political philosophy generally sits around wanting the Government to be as far away from our lives as possible. My brief time in Westminster has very much confirmed those beliefs... In the most part - anything run by the state is incompetent, inefficient and inept. Why would we want any more of it? It sucks away competition and entrepreneurialism, leaving us all with an entirely deficient public sector which only serves itself, not those actually generating economic success. The Government has basic tasks to complete, and sadly they are even failing at that - mainly, border control. It all needs fundamental reform. We need less tax, less regulation, less bureaucracy. Return power to the individual, giving them the decisions on how their tax is spent for themselves, their families and their businesses. "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help." Reagan was right. We need to drastically slash down the responsibilities of Government, and hope that they can complete those basic tasks with the tiniest modicum of competence. That isn't too much to hope for, is it?

The Chancellor’s attempt to blame her economic inheritance on her decision to raise taxes - tax rises she had always planned - will not wash with the public. Reeves and Starmer have spent weeks talking down the economy, whilst simultaneously handing over billions in inflation busting pay rises for their union paymasters. It simply does not add up. Labour promised over 50 times in the election they would not raise people’s taxes and now they are laying the ground to do just that. We will hold them to account on their promises.

Can people share with me ethical dilemmas they have faced as physios. The one I suggested to my assessor was rejected. I then failed my screening interview.

@OrthoEvidence @BoneJointJ Most problems with non-op Achilles tendon ruptures occurre due to lengthening of the musculotendinous unit. PRP, in the absence ofrepair, has no possibility of restoring appropriate length. It’s no surprise, then, that, in the absence of surgery, PRP is of no benefit.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections for Achilles Tendon Ruptures Published in the @BoneJointJ Research Question Can PRP injections improve clinical outcomes compared to placebo in patients with non-surgically managed Achilles tendon ruptures? Results Symptoms & Function: the PRP group and placebo group displayed similar levels of functionality and symptom severity at 2-year follow-up (p=0.757). Pain: no differences in pain scores were observed between the two groups at 2-year follow-up (p=0.848). Quality of Life: physical and mental quality of life scores were not significantly different between the PRP and placebo groups (p=0.716, p=0.908). Goal Attainment: levels of functional goal attainment were similar in the PRP and placebo groups (p=0.941). Takeaway PRP provided no clinical advantage over placebo for patients with Achilles tendon ruptures over a 2-year period.
