Just got back from my dietician appointment. Five weeks ago was the last time she took measurements. Happy to say that I lost 14 centimetres in my chest, 12 cm in my waist and my other body parts were all 10 cm less. And I’m also 42 pounds down in that time. 123lbs in 22 weeks.

@guyfelicella Guy, thank you for your acts of service and for your commitment to educating others about drug addiction, safer supply, harm reduction etc - my nephew died from a fentanyl overdose in 2021 - I wish I had done more for him.

People are saying we need more recovery and treatment, that we have too much harm reduction and safer supply. The truth is I can help people access recovery a lot easier and faster than I can help them access safer supply.

@LakotaMan1 Until I moved to northern Ontario in my 50's and returned to school, I had not been taught the truth about colonialism, residential schools, the 60's scoop, etc. It is heartbreaking to consider what these children and their families endured.

Beautiful little babies like these died alone, without their families to comfort them. Then clergy boarding school staff simply put them in the ground, threw dirt on them, and walked away. My heart’s irrevocably broken — it will never ever be the same. 💔

@DennisTirchPhD Wake up is a good way of putting it. That's exactly what I said to my therapist earlier today, reflecting on the past; that I feel like I have been asleep for a very long time and am beginning to wake up. I'm happy to be on a recovery journey too :)

I live with PTSD. I can't pretend that I'm happy about it. It's hard. Many of you know how hard it is. My heart is with you. Yet, trauma shaped my life's work, and I am happy for that. I'm happy to be a part of healing, both yours and mine, as we wake up and get free together.🙏

@Theholisticpsyc An interesting way of looking at it. I keep trying to regain my footing in order to be my old, productive self, and thought I needed more routine. But this makes me curious for sure. Thank you x

I wish more people knew healing the nervous system is about being still. Laying in the sun. Being present while you eat your food. Listening to the sounds of nature. Letting your imagination run wild. Instead of more routine, the body needs less.

Today should be Harrison's 13th birthday, July 8th. It was difficult in the beginning for Ed to accept Harry's choice of clothes but dress by dress, Harry won him over. Ed shared this memory: Harrison loved to dress up all the time, I miss him so much." Harry's 5th bday pic.

@RandomSecretary I used to suffer from low back pain when I was a runner. My PT showed me how to do "sloppy push-ups" which helped a lot, along with foam rolling tight spots.

The reason I set a “View Limit” is because we are all Twitter addicts and need to go outside. I’m doing a good deed for the world here. Also, that’s another view you just used.

@Theholisticpsyc Emotional intimacy continues to elude me despite being in therapy for 8 years now. I continue to feel emptiness in any encounter and am very reluctant to let myself be seen.

Many of us grew up around adults who: -didn't understand how to emotionally connect -were distant -acted in hurtful or overwhelming ways. This is why emotional intimacy feels uncomfortable.

@ironbow My heart hurts for all the sorrows suffered by these innocent children. I only learned the truth of our colonial past after studying Indigenous social service work at college, at midlife. And the resulting intergenerational trauma that affects many today. Heartbreaking.

I am going to share a story that haunted my mother, she was 5 at the time. In Delmas residential school, she and all the other kids were seated at the long, hard, and often dirty tables ( no matter how much the kids scrubbed them, the dirt and blood remained in the cracks) while dinner was taking place. Hunger was always an issue. These children, ages ranging from 4 to teen, were forced to pray while the nuns and priested feasted each evening. They could smell the fresh bread and meat, and their food, usually salt porridge or fish head soup and stale breads, sat in front of them. The growling little tummies and tears, and eyes never glancing at the table of feasting for fear of the thick leather belt or the long wooden sticks used on them until their little bones were heard cracking. My mom, was taken care of by an older girl, who she said, was 13 at the time this took place. She used to sing to her at night and comfort her when she was first taken to this cold, damp hell. During this meal, the kids, so hungry from working all day harvesting the garden they had taken care of, were tired and forced to pray while the nuns and priests filled themselves, butter, breads, vegetables and meat. Imagine what it took for that 13 year old to stand up mid prayer and yell at them? Imagine the courage. The head nun picked up a 2 X 4 by the wall and walked to her, striking her in the head. My mother watched as the girl slumped over and blood coming from the wound, died in front of her. The priest and nuns had the older boys dig her grave later that evening. A shallow hole where they didn't even bother to pray over her life, for her 'sin.' Anyone who doesn't believe these words, is the cruelest form of evil. I will always stand up to the deniers. Always. Our children deserve our bravery and our fight for them. If they were your family, what would you do? Tapwe🪶💔

Today is Red Dress Day. It is a day when we honour missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls & gender diverse people. We remember & uplift them. We support their loved ones. We recognize this disproportionate violence as a national tragedy. We advocate for change. #MMIWG2S

A black man was murdered after expressing hunger & throwing his jacket down on the subway. We immediately see his entire criminal history as if an explanation. Yet legacy media withheld the name of the white man who killed him speaking only of his decorated career as a marine.
steven monacelli@stevanzetti

It now is confirmed that some news outlets had the name of the vigilante who killed Jordan Neely, Daniel Penny. One of the outlets inadvertently ran his last name in a photo caption while concealing his name in the story.

@wc_wells @CiurriaMichelle I've been in analysis for 8 years - I doubted the utility of the process many times. I'm still in the thick of it, but it has transformed me in ways that I simply cannot describe. It saved my life.

@CiurriaMichelle I’m deeply concerned at the implication that people ought not waste their time in therapy by virtue of the fact that it results in little more than treading water. The data do not support this conjecture. Therapy is a wonderful tool for many and a critical lifeline for others.

People who think that talk therapy will solve their problems haven't read Foucault. Discourses are double-edged swords. Talking about things solves some problems while creating others. 1/3

Today marks five years since I tried to end my life which was apparently a miracle that I survived. One nurse said it means that I’m here for a reason and idk about that but I’m trying to make this second chance count. Please reach out about your mental health, it gets better 💖
