People in the UK need to wake up. This thread explains how the government is using the GMC to remove the requirement for consultant surgeons, anaesthetists, and physicians to be medically qualified. @ShaunLintern surely this should worry you and your readers?

I know there are many issues at present but this is the single largest threat to medicine within the UK. @gmcuk have time and again shown that they cannot be trusted. By removing the safeguards provided by Royal Colleges we will be throwing patients to the wolves.

GMC going wild with the specialty register would be a disaster for doctors and patients. ACT NOW. You can’t CCT and flee if your certificate isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. (Below: me doing a Cassandra trying to warn BMA reps about this fiasco-in-waiting)

Hopefully, nobody starts asking how we got here in 2 years when they start awarding CCTs to PAs and AAs. Doctors are in the meetings where these decisions are being discussed, by the way.
