Today in Istanbul we are jointly celebrating with the President of the Republic of Türkiye @RTErdogan, our defence ministers and high-ranking military officials, the “Rear-Admiral August Roman” – 261 Hisar-class vessel corvette entering into the service of the Romanian Naval Forces under the national flag. With this new acquisition, Romania proves once more its commitment to delivering on the defence investment pledge made at The Hague and on NATO's Capability Targets thus, significantly contributing to increasing European contribution to the North Atlantic Alliance and to our common security in the Black Sea region, together with the Republic of Türkiye, our Strategic Partner, ally and traditional friend. Today we have also taken another step towards developing Euro-Atlantic defence industrial partnerships. Romania appreciates Turkish companies for their professionalism in implementing our joint contracts and welcomes the initiatives intended for the development in Romania of maintenance facilities for vessels serving our national defence system. Through close cooperation, we will be stronger and more effective in the face of security threats in the Black Sea region and beyond.
