@subscriptiondoc Exactly! I've seen so many teams get distracted by shiny feature lists when they should be asking "does this solve our core problem better?" The best tools are usually the ones that nail 3-4 things perfectly rather than doing 20 things okay.

I used to think more features = better product. The magic isn't in quantity... It's in having the RIGHT features.

This is the funniest thing I’ve seen on the internet. Afroman had his house raided by Ohio Adam County deputies… who found absolutely nothing… broke his door, trashed his place, allegedly had $400 go missing… and then they refused to pay for the damages. So, like any reasonable rapper would do… He turned his home security footage into music videos, mocking them. And then, the deputies sued him for FOUR MILLION dollars… because they didn’t like being made fun of. And Afroman’s response? He dropped ANOTHER music video. In his own words: “Unconfidential informant lied to Police to get out of some trouble. Adam County Sherriff officers made a mistake by believing the lie. Raided my house, found nothing, refused to pay for the damages and filed a lawsuit against me, Afroman, for exercising my freedom of speech! This is me holding trial in one song. I hope you enjoy it.” They said his videos “ridiculed” them… so he decided to show them what that actually looks like. And the best part? A jury basically said… yeah… you don’t get to raid someone’s home, end up in their surveillance footage, and then cry because they used it to make fun of you.

This is how AI is changing my follow-ups. We hosted an event yesterday. 40 people came. Multiple sessions and presentations, tons of content and value. Normally a follow-up would be: "Here are the presentations, thanks for coming, blah blah blah" But with Claude, I: - Had it review the presentations for 2-3 salient points - Had it research the company of each attendee, taking into account what they marked on the registration form as an interest - Had AI prompt a personal response with the links calling out which presentations they should pay attention to - AI drafted all the emails for me in GMAIL I could have had them all send, but I personalized about 20% of them (people I knew, or wanted to sell to). Love this shit.

When customers say your subscription is "too expensive," your instinct is to lower the price. Don't. SpaceGoods tested a 25% price cut. Zero impact on retention. But asking subscribers to set a personal goal at signup? 20%+ improvement. Value is emotional, not mathematical.

Grateful for this community! Thanks again to the 🐐 @subscriptiondoc for putting together a great workshop and having me as a speaker. Moderating a panel was my first as well. That was a ton of fun being alongside a group of retention queens! Let’s keep building baby! 📈🐺

SpaceGoods does 80% of revenue on subscription. Most of those are first-time buyers. Their secret isn't a big discount. It's a "starter kit" with tools that make the first experience great - then onboarding that coaches you through week one. Retention starts before the first renewal hits.

@AdLawyer The funny thing is that it’s not really grass fed beef. It’s grass fed beef for part of it. There’s actually a lot of confusion and gray hat or black hat tactics in the space.

Another tip for working with agents Always let the agent evaluate its work Building a website? Let it open the browser, evaluate, continue API integration? Let it call the endpoint, evaluate, continue Deploying an application? Let it use the CLI, read logs, continue Always let the agent see its work
Jacob Posel@jacob_posel

Tip for working with agents I see a lot of people plan with ChaGPT/Claude and then bring a plan to their coding agent Don’t do this. You lose a lot of important context and nuance. Coding agents can search the internet and plan with you. Try and keep all context in a single LLM session for a single task.

We have a client with two separate landing pages describing aspects of their subscription program. Dropped both in Claude and asked it to combine them. 5 minutes. Designer implementing. Needs more of their branding elements but it’s 90% there from Claude. Funny but we haven’t yet had a client say anything about how much we’re using AI. They just love how much faster and thorough we are.

@EricRausch They tied individual responses to customer LTV and found the winning combo! Now they onboard everyone to that “best practice” and drive a great first product experience.

SpaceGoods found three things that predict whether a subscriber sticks around: drinking the product in the morning, making it hot with milk, and using it daily. They built their entire onboarding around replicating those behaviors. That's retention strategy, not a cancel flow with a 10% off coupon.
