A brief back-and-forth physical struggle follows before Karmelo appears outside the tent area. Austin was definitely the aggressor. You do not cross other students unless you are the aggressor.

Distant security footage has been released of Karmelo defending himself from Austin Metcalf attacking him. As you can see in the video, Karmelo was surrounded under the tent with no way to escape. As Austin was standing over Karmelo attacking him, Karmelo neutralized the threat using self defense, and Karmelo had to run UP the stairs to escape further danger because he was boxed in from running DOWN the stairs. This is CLEARLY self defense
