UPDATE ON INCOME & EXPENSES VALIDATION FOR THE 2025 TAX RETURN In its previous communication, KRA indicated that it would enhance the tax filing workbook by introducing additional sheets to address emerging issues raised by taxpayers ( particularly following the directive that only eTIMS-transmitted invoices would be allowable for tax purposes.) To facilitate and support taxpayers, these enhancements have now been implemented. Under Section M of the Tax Computation Sheet, the following rows have been added: Row 6: Manual/Non-eTIMS Expenses Row 7: Accounting & Accrual Adjustments for Income Row 8: Accounting & Accrual Adjustments for Expenses Please note that all non-eTIMS expenses must be adequately supported. These entries will be subject to validation and manual reconciliation to ensure that no fictitious invoices are claimed. As I have always emphasized, compliance and proactive tax planning remain critical. Despite these enhancements, it will still be challenging to comply effectively without proper bookkeeping. Going forward, taxpayers will need to thoroughly vet their suppliers to ensure that expenses are supported by valid eTIMS invoices failure to which legitimate expenses will be disallowed resulting to higher taxable profits.
