@EscobarChim The speeches during its opening nearly made it sound like the bank had invested its own money in the building. A lot of people plus naine actually think that's a StanChart building 🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️

Mwisho, Frank Knight has listed the StanChart HQ up for sale for a market record of $33 million. I thought the bank owns that property, especially after sprucing up the Mount Sinai gospel video Addis roundabout. Twin Palm Mall has equally been floated for $21.5 million. How?

So I drive into our office park and security at the gate give me a take-a-lot box they signed for for us. I drive to our office block and as I get out of the car to enter my access code to get into the building, this dude (new tenant) stands in front of me and asks me who I'm delivering the box to. I tell him to Rovert Logistics and he says there's nobody there. For a second, I wanted to throw a feat but I was like, "no worries bro", I actually work there. He waits for me to enter my access code and watches me walk in to make sure I know where I'm going. SMH. #selfstyledking

Mu Zambia namo, we lack seriousness. You make pupils sit for exams & decide to not include them on the result transcript? The very subjects that are supposed to help us create a cadre of citizens able to think & solve problems. I am just not understanding the rationale.

Dear President @HHichilema, I hope you see this and that this message finds you well at this point in time. I would like to turn your attention to the issue of Pay As You Earn (PAYE). As citizens, we are cognizant of the fact that the 2024 National Budget will be presented on Friday, 29th September, 2023. That said, I will be quick to acknowledge that there has not been an aggressive campaign for a reduction in PAYE as was the case last year. That does not mean that we do not want that to come to pass. We do. Now more so than ever. Here's why: 1. Prices of goods and services are increasing virtually every month. We cannot bank on salary increments that come after a year, and even if we did, an increment would not even be a guarantee. Even if it were, some salary increments aren't even equivalent to the average rate of inflation. As such, a reduction in PAYE would increase our ability to spend, which in turn, would enhance the taxable profits of businesses out there. More revenue for government. 2. Our purchasing power is diminishing every month due to depreciation of our currency. It's difficult to even channel money towards side-hustles because we cannot restock the quantities we had initially. The cost of doing business is going up, not to mention customs duties and taxes payable by entrepreneurs who import and export goods and services. Therefore, a reduction in PAYE would likely cushion this becuase of a greater ability to spend. It is worth noting that salaries can be used as a source of capital by people in formal employment, so such a source of income should not be discounted. 3. It goes without saying that energy runs the economy. While we acknowledge that there are external factors that affect the prices of fuel, we cannot deny that this commodity has become very expensive. Over the last two months, we have really felt it. Actually, ever since the monthly review was effected, it has become difficult to budget. This is a genuine sentiment. Whatever we would spend has significantly increased, and we have had to sacrifice other things just to meet our monthly costs of transportation. The question is, for how long can this go on? We can only adjust for so long. Other areas of life need to go on. Before we know it, we will end up working just to meet our monthly transportation costs. A reduction in PAYE would help cushion this. It bears mention that PAYE is a progressive tax. Simply put, the higher you earn, the more tax you pay. Therefore, in adjusting the tax bands, there is need to highly consider the highest tax bracket. It is very high. Recent adjustments have not taken that into account. Besides, do you recall that one of your campaign promises was to create an enabling environment as well as reduce the highest tax band from 37.5% to 22.5% over a period of 5 years? I do understand that PAYE is one of the highest contributors of tax revenue for the Zambian government, but are you sure that it is fair for the minority (i.e. formally employed) to bear that burden? Honestly speaking, is it fair? The answer is no. Your earnest and kind help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Yours sincerely, Evans. Cc. @S_Musokotwane

As we continue to advocate for a favorable adjustment to the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax bands, here’s a thread of what exactly PAYE is. In this thread, I will cover the following: What is PAYE? Scope of Employment Tax, Tax Bands & Calculation of Employment Tax Exempt Emoluments

TP = 18,400,556 Formal+Informal = X = 3,164,749 TP - X = Y = 15, 235, 807 If you do the ratio for every employed person (X) there are 4.81 dependents (Ys) The correct figure is 4.81 and not 481 .. missed out a point between 4 and 81

GRZ intends to recruit 4500 teachers in 2024. The 2021 Labour Force Survey by Zamstats shows that for every employed person ( in the formal or informal sector), there are 481 people who depend on them. So recruitment of 4,500 is likely to benefit 2, 164, 500 people. #Follow
