@RobertHaisfield @altryne Put your skills in some dir. Start your favourite agent. Give it links to docs about skills config for claude, codex, and opencode. Ask it to write a script which creates symlinks to your skills in each of the claude/codex/opencode configs. Run script when you add new skill

@altryne What would be your prompt for this? Is this a prompt you run regularly when you add new skills?

Does anyone have a simple tool that just keeps all of their Skills in sync between Claude Code, Codex, Opencode, etc.?

@houshuang Ah ok, that makes sense. Definitely agree that flashcard apps could use a re-conceptualization, especially in the era of LLMs

@tiptoptm Yeah but I exclusively use Anki on phone (I import cards etc on laptop but don’t do reps).

I really am going to have to vibe code my own space repetition tool, aren’t I? What would be the best frameworks and services to use to ensure I get a mobile app and sync with a web app? I tried vibe coding a React Native app before, didn’t go well. But models are better now.

@houshuang The mental model I have is one where the AI is the teacher/tutor and Anki assistant. Anki stays dumbs but the AI outside it knows how to add/refactor your cards to help you, mostly via instructions from you for now but could be more proactive in the future

@houshuang I think Claude code (etc) could do some of this. Install Anki-connect and add instructions to CLAUDE.md how to use it. While studying have Claude running in terminal. Ask it to edit / add cards as you’re studying, copy-pasting the id of current card as needed

Visual proof of bouldering progress. My greatest climbing achievement so far
Phil@blisstweeting

Fortnightly report #4 - recovered and mostly got back into shape - no numerical achievements - a lot of progress with climbing - haven't done running yet

@tiptoptm Thanks! Yeah I thought about it but that would mean doing backend for a very seasonal thing. Probably I will improve it later and make easily customizable for different "lore settings" and then maybe add leaderboard as well

I don't often post personal things here, but this month marks @slau23 and I's fifteenth anniversary (and "effectively married" for over 20 😂), so I'm feeling reflective. Nothing that you see here on my account would be remotely possible without her or the family we built together. It's all self-reinforcing. When family goes to shit, it feels like work is impossible too. And vice versa. One of my only regrets in life is that I didn't marry her sooner and that we didn't have kids sooner. Not every marriage works out, and not every family is positive. Who knows what hurdles lay ahead of us, or you. But my advice, from one random guy on the internet: if you are on the fence, marry that girl (or guy). have those kids. Love them completely and annoyingly. These are easily the best three choices I've made in my life. You get one life, and it would be terrible to miss out on having a family for fear it might not work.

We found in our family over time that they usually amplify each other, to an extent. For people who love their work (many reading here), working hard makes them happy, which makes their family life better too. The opposite happens as well. Having a happy, loving, supportive family makes it easier to be ambitious at work. Once we had kids I found something surprising. My kids got excited about the startup too. They asked questions about it at dinner. They got excited for the launches. This only works if you’re nourishing both gardens though. It’s not being ambitious at one at expense of other but being ambitious at both. It is hard to do and I’ve not always succeeded, but the feeling of having my family behind me has been one of the most amazing feelings in my career. When things feel out of balance I think about that feeling and how to recapture it.

@blisstweeting Just kindle atm. If I wanted to pull more I’d probably get a readwise subscription. They extract kindle highlights, track web highlights, and support pdf highlights. And they’ve got a simple api to access them all

Book-reading app with spaced repetition, but each word you encounter while reading the book gets bumped farther in the deck. So you only review the words that haven't popped up for a while. Has anyone built this?

@tiptoptm @allgarbled The argument “Anki is for more than spaced repetition” is reasonable but very different from “spaced repetition isn’t rote memorization”.

@eshear @allgarbled Agreed that’s the intended purpose of the concept and I assume Anki. I just interpret the original as saying that you can use Anki for more than that original purpose. Which I agree with and do

people think anki is for “rote memorization”. it’s not. it’s a spaced repetition engine. you can put anything you want on the cards spaced repetition is so powerful. you have no idea. please…….free your mind from these shackles

@eshear @allgarbled I put eg images and quotes that I want to be reminded of in Anki. No intention of memorizing. It’s not even framed as a question. I’m just using the spaced repetition part

@allgarbled …that’s literally the definition of rote memorization. “Here is a thing. Put it on a card. Now review it until you remember it.” What is it for except memorization?
